1 | Escape the Church |
2 | Head for the Extraction Point |
3 | Stand Your Ground |
Take a left and approach the hanging ladder on the wall. Give Ashley a boost so she can reach the attic and drop the ladder for you to climb. Go up the stairs and interact with the window to get out of the church.

Drop down the ladder and you will receive a call from Hunnigan about where to take Ashley. Before you proceed, turn around to find a chest containing an Elegant Headdress and a file that starts the Grave Robber request.
Now, go back to the archway and move the cabinet to the side. This path leads to the church frontyard where Ganados are searching for both of you.
A fight is inevitable as there are Ganados inside the church and down the cemetery, but you can be sneaky until you find a perfect spot where you can lure them and use a shotgun or hand grenades for a sweep. You can toss in a flash grenade for the plagas that will pop out.
Before you leave the cemetery, make sure to destroy the tombstone emblems for the Grave Robber request!
Continue following the path out of the cemetery until you reach the Merchant. Turn in the request and sell the Elegant Headdress along with other single piece treasures that you might have.
At this point, the Merchant will have Red9 on sale, which will be a neat upgrade to your handgun. Its base power is already decent compared to the SG-09 R so we recommend upgrading its rate of fire and reload speed first to make staggering enemies easier.

Along the way, you'll meet up with another merchant. Also around this area, you'll find a Savage Mutt request, next to the door in front of the shop. Once you've finished your business with the merchant, enter this door to move forward.
Head to the left and enter the open window of a house. Find the door to the exit to see the rest of the village.
You should see two houses from where you exited and a bonfire to the left. The left side house will contain a Vintage Compass so make sure you have Small Keys with you.
Exit that house through the nearest window. Just outside this, you'll find a ladder that leads to another house.
You do not need to come downstairs, so as soon as you take down the villager, exit through the window next to it and jump down from the roof. Keep heading north to see the gate to the Farm.

You'll have your first Minotaur battle of the Chapter just a little past this point. Make sure you prepare for that! Once you cleared out the wave, find a way to the back of the barn to find an Old Wayshrine to get an Antique Pipe. No need to enter the farm to do this. After getting this treasure, go back to the main path to cross the bridge. Along the way, you'll see another merchant and this is the perfect time to sell all the treasures you gathered and prepare for a long fight up ahead.

After Crossing the bridge, a mob of Ganados will chase you to an Abandoned House where you'll meet Luis through a cutscene.
Before you start looting the first floor, move the cabinets next to the windows so you can have more time to prepare. There are also windows on the upper floor that you can barricade as the Ganados will use ladders to break in.
One way to deal with the attack is to go upstairs and position yourself on the corner next to the staircase (away from the two windows). You can lure the Ganados here, both those entering from the first and second floors, before using your shotgun and grenades to wipe them out.
Using a Flash Grenade is also a good option against tightly packed mobs as these instantly staggers them for a quick melee attack, as well as destroy any released plagas.
With the possibility of two entrances now, you'll be forced to keep an eye on all directions. There wouldn't be too many enemies at first, but the bigger challenge comes once the Minotaur breaks one of the blockages downstairs. Once you defeat the Minotaur, a cutscene will trigger where Ashley calls on the other two from the door and follow her to an escape route. The long battle ends here as everyone breathes their sigh of relief and Ashley finds out about her infection shortly after.

Chapter 5 Tips and Strategies |

Sell All your Treasures before crossing the bridge Use the stairs during the Abandoned House Fight Use the floors to your advantage Focus on your survival
|
This is the biggest wave of Ganados you'll face so far, so make sure you're well-equipped with the weapons you need to use. Before starting this fight, sell all your treasures to the merchant before this bridge and stack up all the items you need.
One good strategy is to keep yourself distant from these angry mobs. You can leverage yourself by putting yourself on the first half of the stairs and start shooting from there. Keep in mind that this is the largest wave you'll encounter so far, so collecting money from them should be the least of your priority.
If you're having a hard time fending off the Ganados and the Minotaur during the second wave of the Abandoned House fight, you can try jumping off from the second floor to buy yourself time. You can utilize the floors to kite all the enemies, including the Minotaur if you're having too much trouble.
Do not worry about protecting Luis. He's quite invincible during this wave, so put all your focus on your survival. He'll also give you a couple of useful items when he says Use this!

You can find this Clockwork Castellan in the attic of the Village Chief's Manor. To access the attic, inspect the tilted picture inside the second-floor bedroom to reveal a lever, then pull the lever to release a ladder from the ceiling. Command Ashley to kick down the ladder, then follow it up to reach the attic.
Once in the attic, head deeper inside and destroy the first box you see on the left to have a clear shot toward the Clockwork Castellan.
