How to Beat Verdugo |
---|
Note: There is only 1 Verdugo in the game, so you must kill this one to earn the Wave Goodbye, Right Hand! achievement. |
You can deal significant damage with your weapon to Verdugo if you turn on the Nitrogen Pipes while its nearby. You can listen to the footsteps or do a quick turn to know if it's around. However, all Nitrogen Pipes can only be used once, so maximize Verdugo's vulnerability window and shoot it to inflict more damage.
Note that this fight relies heavily on this strategy, so don't waste your time trying to parry Verdugo's attacks for a counter hit!
Stay away immediately once you activate the Nitrogen Pipes. It can damage Leon and lose a good chunk of his health.
You won't be able to kill the Verdugo without using a Magnum, Shotgun, Sniper Rifle, or Assault Rifle, especially on your first playthrough. It has a large amount of health and there will only be limited Nitrogen Pipes you can use to make him vulnerable to shots.
Switch between these weapons to successfully kill Verdugo. You will get the Wave Goodbye, Right Hand! Trophy for doing it!
Best Weapons: Weapon Tier List
You can one-shot kill Verdugo with a Rocket Launcher, but it needs to be drenched in Nitrogen first to pull it off. You can try this out if you have extra cash, as Rocket Launcher is expensive, or if you have unlocked its infinite ammo in the game!
Rocket Launcher Location, Weapons Stats, and Upgrades
It's best to do a melee prompt on Verdugo first once it gets affected by the Nitrogen Pipes and then shoot it once it's showing signs of recovering for maximum damage. You can use a Magnum or any SMG as the weapon, as they can inflict considerable damage in a short time. Grenades are also a good to throw once Verdugo is on the ground.
Verdugo boss fight is time-based and you can escape the area without killing it. You can just run, dodge, and wait for the elevator to come to finish the boss fight. You can save up ammo for doing this and prepare instead on the following boss fights.
You won't be able to obtain the Trophy, Wave Goodbye, Right Hand! Trophy, using this method. It's not recommended if you're aiming for 100% completion, unless you've already obtained this Trophy on one of your playthroughs.
100% Completion Roadmap
Gold Monocle is a treasure that Verdugo drops when he gets killed. You won't be able to get this treasure and sell it for Pesetas if you just survive the boss fight against Verdugo.
All Attack Patterns |

|
Verdugo can leap and pin you on the ground if you're caught. Sprint away once he starts going for the attack. You can break free by tapping the interact button fast or using your Knife.
Verdugo will mostly attack you with a forward slash attack as it follows you around the area. It will start dashing and slashing, which you can avoid by keeping your distance.
Verdugo will attack you with its tail in a variety of ways, all of which you can avoid by keeping your distance.
Verdugo can hide above the ceiling and pull off consecutive attacks against Leon. If you don't see Verdugo in the vicinity, it's probably hiding up there. Be alert when that happens and dodge the incoming attacks by crouching or performing a dodge prompt!

Achievements List and Trophy Guide
Verdugo Boss Fight Exploit | |
---|---|
1 | Freeze Verdugo |
2 | Run Towards the Elevator |
3 | Use the Scope to Glitch on the Elevator Door |
4 | Enter the Elevator |
Use Nitrogen Pipes found in the area to freeze Verdugo. This will give you enough time to open the gate the will lead you to the elevator.
Open the gate leading the elevator then enter the hallway. Once you enter, the elevator will automatically go to the floor you are on. Turn left at the end of the hallway, then right to reach the room with the elevator.
Verdugo will attack at least twice if you head towards the elevator. Keep an eye on the dodge prompts in order to avoid these attacks.
Update 4/23: This scope glitch has been fixed as of the Ver. 1.05 update and will no longer work. |
Once you are in front of the elevator, scope downwards and lean back on the elevator door. This will allow you to glitch inside and prevent the Verdugo from reaching you.
Hold that position and wait for the elevator to arrive.
Note that it will take time for the elevator to arrive and this glitch requires you to be completely steady while on scope.
Scope Location, Effect, and Compatible Weapons
Once you enter the elevator, you will be able to skip the Verdugo boss fight. Avoid going out of the elevator as Verdugo will go back to attack you.
It is not recommended to do this if you're aiming for 100% completion since you will not be able to get the Trophy, Wave Goodbye, Right Hand! using this method.
