There's no judgement when it comes to running away past enemies; in fact, it's good survival tip. Killing enemies is not required to progress through most locations, so always try your best to make a dash for the next area as quickly as possible.
Sprint away from chasing enemies and through areas where there are lots of enemies, or sneak past unaware foes to get away without taking any damage. Either way, you'll save ammo—just make sure to keep Ashley safe too!
Maximize your ammo efficiency by aiming for the enemy's head and weak spots. A few well-placed shots toward a foe's vital areas will end up doing more damage in the long run while saving ammo.
When taking on a single enemy, you can conserve ammo by using your knife to deal damage and counter their attacks. We recommend aiming for perfect parries, as they stagger opponents and allow Leon to land a melee attack follow-up.
In addition, you can also use your knife to land stealth kills, which instantly takes down unaware foes without using any ammo. However, stealth kills degrade knives at a moderate rate, so always keep an eye on your knife's durability.
Instead of picking off foes one by one with your guns, consider leading enemies around and grouping them up before using Flash and Hand Grenades to take down all of them at once without spending any ammo.
We also recommend taking advantage of any nearby traps and environmental hazards to deal with multiple enemies at once while conserving ammo. For example, you can shoot the hanging lantern in the Village to spread flames around and cause a burning cow to rampage through the town.

Stay alert for breakable barrels, lootable drawers, and open cabinets and tables while venturing through the game. These interactable objects often contain ammo drops and other valuable items for you to pick up.
Enemies also have a chance of dropping ammo after dying, so killing them while shooting as few times as possible can end up increasing your overall ammo count.
