Chapter 3 Walkthrough

This is a walkthrough for Chapter 3 of Resident Evil 4 Remake (RE4). Read on for a detailed walkthrough, route maps for each objective, a list of important items obtainable, and tips on how to complete this chapter!

Chapter 3 Basic Information

Chapter Summary

After narrowly escaping a confrontation with Mendez, Leon gains more information on Luis and his mysterious saviour. Leon heads for the Church in search of Ashley, but soon discovers that her whereabouts may be across the lake.

Chapter Objectives

Head for the Church

Route Map

Exit the Manor

After barely escaping a quick death from Mendez, Leon gets a call from Hunnigan telling him they found more information on Luis Serra. Exit the Manor and you will encounter a dog (actually a wolf) trapped in a bear trap. You can choose to free the animal or put it out of its misery. Fans of the original game will know that saving the dog will trigger it to help you against the fight with El Gigante.

Pass through the Gate

Use the Insignia Key to unlock the gate and continue down the path until you reach another gate. Open the gate and you will once again find yourself in the Village. After a few seconds of roaming in the Village Square, the tower will collapse and a few Colmillos will attack you.

Investigate the Village Further

Get inside the house directly across the collapsed tower. Deal with the villager inside and climb out the window on the other side of the room. Go to the door with the insignia and use the Insignia Key to unlock it.

Find a Way to the Church

Head to the Church

Once inside the building with the Insignia door, head on back and you will find the Merchant. This is a good time to restock your supplies before heading to the church. Once you are done, continue down the path lighted by candles. At the end of the path, you should have a clear view of the Church. Creep towards the Church to not alert the other villagers in the area.

Look for an Entrance

From the Church doors, go through the narrow alley on its right. There will be a room on your left. Inside you will find a map to the lake. At the end of the alley, there will be a chest containing treasure as well as a Request titled Grave Robbers. Go back in to the room and open the hatch next to the typewriter. Drop down and reach the end of the tunnel to find a way to the lake. If you turn right, you can unlock the gate making it easier to return to the room with the Typewriter.

Cross the Bridge

From the tunnel exit, cross the bridge and deal with the villagers waiting on the other side. Climb the ladder by the first house on your left. Continue forward and drop down the second ladder. Head in to the tunnels at the end of the platform.

Head to the Quarry

Go deeper into the tunnels until you reach the giant hammer. You will find the Destroy the Blue Medallions 2 request nearby. Push forward to the quarry where some Colmillos will be sleeping. After dealing with the dogs, you will hear some growling behind the large metal door. Ignore it for now and go down the other path. Continue forward until you see the purple torch of the Merchant. Follow the torch to the door with the ram skull and go through. The Merchant will be on the other side of the room.

All Hexagon Piece Locations

After your business with the Merchant, grab the Hexagonal Piece A from the chest in the area and head to the elevator if you wish to partake in a shooting range mini-game.

Head to the Lake

Go out the door on the far end of the room to the outside. Drop down form the ledge and continue heading down until you reach the lower grounds. Interact with the slab of stone with hexagonal slots. You can put in the piece you found earlier for now, but you will still need two other pieces. Climb back up and go through the narrow crevice across from where you can find the note regarding the boat fuel.

Reach the Boathouse

When you reach the end of the crevice, as you try to walk along the platform, it will collapse alerting the nearby enemies. Defeat the Minotaur and the villagers. Once all enemies have been dealt with, traverse the area to get to the boathouse on other side of one of the walls. Get the boat fuel from the boathouse then return to the quarry.

All Hexagon Piece Locations

You can find Hexagon Piece B on the right side of the house containing the Boat Fuel. You will have to enter the water and wade beneath a wooden bridge to reach the chest containing this puzzle piece.

Defeat the Lake Monster

Once you return to the lower grounds of the quarry, go straight to the boat by the dock. After the cutscene plays out, you will now find yourself in a race against time to kill the lake monster dragging your boat. After defeating the monster, the chapter will conclude.

Prevent the Colmillos from Spawning Go Fishing in Lakeside Settlement Throw a flash grenade at the crows Obtain Charms from the Shooting Range

Prevent the Colmillos from Spawning

To save you the trouble of dealing with the Colmillos, kill the Ganado up the hill before entering back to the village. This will prevent the Colmillos from spawning and will allow you to continue on.

It is advisable to aim for his legs as he immediately starts walking away as soon as he spots you.

All Skips and Shortcuts

Go Fishing in Lakeside Settlement

You'll have to deal with hordes of enemies in the Lakeside Settlement area which can wear you down. If you find yourself running short on healing items, look around for Black Bass swimming in the water beneath you. You can shoot them and then pick them up to use as a healing item in a pinch.

Throw a Flash Grenade at the Crows

Crows always carry items with them, such as pesetas and treasures. When you see a murder of crows grouped together in the Quarry, throw a Flash Grenade at them to kill them all at once and claim the items they're carrying.

Obtain Charms From the Shooting Range

Charms are mainly obtained through the Shooting Range. You'll find the first range in the story when you get to the merchant area by the docks. Use your winnings at the Token Machines to obtain Charms that will provide useful passive effects.

The Grave Robber request can be found in a small shed behind the church after Ashley and Leon quietly escape the church by jumping down from the window located on the second floor.

Clockwork Castellan

You can find this Clockwork Castellan below the Merchant's shop in the Quarry. After going down the ladder left of the Merchant, follow the path right and look up to find the Castellan on top of the stacked boxes.

A Yellow Herb can be found in Chapter 3 in the hut by the docks before you board the boat.

The Antique Pipe can be obtained by shooting the censer hanging behind the north wall.

Ornate Necklace

The Emerald Hidden Treasure can be obtained by shooting the censer in the tree in the graveyard in front of the Church.

Red Gemstone Ring

The Red Gemstone Ring Hidden Treasure is in a treasure chest in front of the entrance of the church.

Silver Token

The Silver Token Hidden Treasure can be found hanging from the roof of the shed where you can find the fuel needed to progress the story.

Brute (Minotaur)

First Chapter Appearance	Chapter 1

Minotaur is an elite enemy villager with a bull for a head and a giant sledge hammer. Although it may take more shots than normal villagers, knowing where to hit it greatly helps in bringing it down efficiently.

How to Beat Minotaur

• Shoot its head and knees until its open for a melee prompt
• Take advantage of melee prompts to deal high damage
• Utilize environmental hazards like explosives and ladders.
