The Red9 pistol is our choice for the best Handgun in the Resident Evil 4 Remake. This pistol boasts the highest base power of any Handgun in the game, which is surprising, given you can get it for free as early as Chapter 4.

While it doesn't have the best base Precision, you can trade Spinels at the Merchant to get the Red9 Stock weapon attachment, in order to improve its accuracy.

Besides being the best handgun choice for base accuracy, the Punisher also gets its time to shine during the Castle segment of the game, due to its penetration power perk.

In the Castle section, the Punisher can deal great penetration damage to the enemies with medieaval riot shields better than any handgun, even the ones with higher Power than it. You also encounter more mobs of enemies in the castle, which the Punisher's ability to penetrate through enemy bodies can help deal with.

Unless you're playing low difficulty either one of the starting pistols are the best pistol. The increased Crit Rate will deal with enemies more easily than the Red 9 or Blacktail will which are only the best when actual damage can beat out critical rate in terms of usefulness. Blacktail trumps Red 9 this time around even then due to not having a large difference in Damage and requiring much less space in your case. The ability to fire quickly makes it stronger for bosses as well
