Racking up combos will allow you to get more multiplier bonus rates as you progress through a stage. You can build up combos by killing enemies consecutively in a short time. Lure the enemies out in the open so you can get your combo going, but be careful not to attract many of them!
The points that you get from killing an elite enemy will be multiplied depending on the bonus rate that you currently have. You can increase the multiplier by increasing your total combo score.
Make sure to get all the time bonus orbs on the map first before killing enemies. This will allow you to extend the time limit of the run to its max right away, while also rounding up all enemies in every area for you to farm for combo points.
You can get points as you kill enemies, and killing all of them quickly will allow you to get the highest possible score on a stage. Some enemies are hiding or will only start getting active when they spot you, so try to check out other places to see them.
Getting an S++ Rank in a stage is hard to do in one shot. You have to memorize spawn points for all bonuses, as well as enemies' attack or movement patterns to help you kill them or lure them out.
Practice and learn how to play each Mercenaries Character to complete each stage smoothly. You can try them on stage and try to check every ability or weapon they have to familiarize yourself with the characters more!
List of Mercenaries Characters and Abilities
If you can parry incoming enemy attacks, your Mayhem bar will slightly increase! This will allow you to constantly use your Mayhem Mode ability to get more points.
You will gain additional time If you can kill enemies using a melee attack after staggering them. You will also get additional time if you are able to kill an enemy after landing a headshot.
Kill enemies using your knife after throwing a Flashbang. Killing an enemy using your knife gives you an additional 4 seconds to your time. You can perform two knife kills after every Flashbang.
Killing elite enemies gives you an additional 30 seconds to your time. Make sure that you kill all elite enemies as soon as they spawn. You can check if there are elite enemies present in the area by looking at the top left corner of your screen.
If you spot a chicken, make sure to kill it, for they sometimes drop Gold Chicken Eggs that give you a 50,000-point Egg Bonus. Chickens can be found in every stage.
Leon, Luis and Hunk have nodes on their Mayhem Mode Bar. Having more nodes before triggering Mayhem Mode enhances their mayhem ability. Make sure that you avoid picking up the Yellow Orbs if your nodes are already full since they will not stack. However, If you are using Krauser, you should avoid picking up the Yellow Orb if your Mayhem bar is already full.
In Mercenaries Mode, you will not be able to turn on the Aim Assist setting in the options menu. You will need to practice aiming on at enemy weakpoints to stagger them and to perform melee attacks.
