130 Enemies Killed |
When the fight starts, we highly recommend immediately collecting all Green Orbs while ignoring all enemies.
This grants bonus time as you claim each orb and also funnels some enemies behind you, granting a multi-kill opportunity that can yield high points and combo count.
From the starting point of the round, you can immediately run down the stairs to the left and raise the cannon by knifing the hanging counterweight. This will raise the cannon, which you can use to easily kill the Garradors that will spawn later on.
This is highly recommended for characters who aren't particularly strong against armored enemies, namely Luis and Hunk.
Upon getting to the second floor of the castle, your first objective would be to destroy all the catapults. Destroy the catapults by shooting the explosive barrel beside them. If you're playing as Krauser, you can destroy the catapult directly with a shot from your EJF-338 Compound Bow.
We highly recommend destroying all catapults as they can steal kills and points from you when they hit other enemies and they can stun or kill you instantly when you're low on health.
Utilizing explosive barrels is key to yielding high scores and combo count while only using a single bullet, as they instantly kill all nearby enemies.
We highly recommend not taking the Yellow Orb early, as that is much needed for enemies that show up after 90 or 130 kills.
Yellow Orbs grant you an instant Mayhem Ability charge, which is a need against stronger enemies that will enter the stage.

When 100 Enemies are Killed | Armored Garrador |
When 130 Enemies are Killed | Garrador (x2) |
It's best to use your Mayhem Mode ability when the Garradors has spawned into the battle, given how bulky their health is and how powerful they are. It'll provide even more points if you use your Mayhem Mode ability to kill other enemies swarming the Garrador.
Not only does this strategy yield more Points, Combo Count, and Bonus Rate but it also helps you clear enemies faster which can grant you a Time Bonus if you complete the stage.

Starting Area |
The Castle stage is perfect for camping and funneling enemies because of its open and easy access areas where enemies can easily form groups.
Utilize these camp spots to funnel enemies and kill them as a group to stack point bonuses and combo.
Note that camping too long in a single area may break your combo count, so try switching areas and killing enemies to keep your combo stack high.
Following the best positions to camp, enemies in the Castle stage are quite aggressive and will try to swarm you. It's best to funnel them to your position and kill them as a group for a multi-kill.

Krauser is the best Mercenary for the Castle stage as he excels in melee, ranged, and stealth combat, allowing you to create a versatile playstyle that suits your needs for high scores.
Krauser's Compound Bow can take out multiple enemies because of its explosive arrows. His knife does not break easily and has its own unique moveset that is perfect for slashing down any nearby enemies.
Krauser Utility Guide: Castle | |
---|---|
1 | Use the knife whenever you're surrounded by multiple enemies. |
2 | Run around to funnel enemies and use a Flash Grenade followed by an explosive arrow from Krauser's Compound Bow. |
3 | Kill Elite enemies fast using the Compound Bow's explosive arrows. |
4 | Use Krauser's mayhem ability against large groups of enemies and multiple Elite enemies to rapidly stack points and kill fast. |

Leon is a good Mercenary of choice in the Castle stage because of his arsenal. He can quickly kill Plaga with his flash grenades and his Riot Gun. The Stingray also takes advantage of narrow paths that can form enemy groups.
Leon Utility Guide: Castle | |
---|---|
1 | Collect all available Flash Grenades and use it against grouped enemies for a multi-kill using your melee ability. |
2 | Run around to funnel enemies and shoot them or nearby explosive barrels when they're grouped. |
3 | Kill Elite enemies fast using the Riot Gun to maintain combo count. |
4 | Use Leon's mayhem ability against large groups or Elite enemies to rapidly stack points and kill fast. |
