Unlike the original 2005 game, reaching Ashley after getting separated in the Castle for the first time in the Resident Evil 4 Remake (RE4) is much simpler. Check out how to get to Ashley in the Castle in the remake and how it's different from the original!

The first step to getting back to Ashley in Chapter 8 is getting through the Crimson Lantern Puzzle. To solve this puzzle, pick up the Crimson Lantern from the Cultist Leader deeper in the level and place it back on the Cultist Statue that isn't holding anything, letting you progress further in the chapter.

The last thing standing between you and Ashley at the end of the chapter is the Armored El Gigante in the Castle Battlements. Make your way through the area, dodging flying rocks and clearing out enemies as needed until you reach the nearby cannon.
Shoot the armored giant once with the cannon to take it down, then land another shot on the nearby gate to open the path toward the end of the chapter, where you'll meet back up with Ashley in a cutscene.
How to Beat Armored El Gigante
In the remake, Leon and Ashley reach the Castle Courtyard after passing through the Water Hall. However, the Plaga inside of Ashley influences her to attack and move away from Leon, causing the two to get separated.
Following these events, Leon just needs to get through the Castle Battlements and beat the Armored El Gigante to reach Ashley at the start of the next chapter.
In contrast, the original 2005 game has Leon and Ashley pass through a hallway past the Water Hall. When Ashey begins coughing up blood, Leon tries to check on her, but she recklessly runs away and gets caught by one of the castle's traps, causing the two to get separated.
Following these events, Leon has to pass through multiple areas, complete several puzzles, meet Luis Serra and Osmund Saddler, and defend Ashley from foes before the two can reunite.
