The countdown above shows the release time for the US region on both console and PC. The game will be available earlier for console players in other regions as described below.

The Japanese official twitter has confirmed a midnight release in Japan for PS4/PS5 and a 1:00 PM release time in Japan for Steam and Xbox. Based on this, we predict a release time of local midnight for PS4/PS5 and worldwide release at midnight EDT for Steam and Xbox on September 21. This also lines up with the release times of the previous Mercenaries Mode free DLC.

As local midnight comes earlier the farther east you go, players with accounts from regions near the top of this list will be able to play the game earlier than those near the bottom. Note that all United States players will likely be able to start at midnight Eastern Time, so players in western time zones in the US were able to start earlier than midnight.

Unlike consoles, PC players are expected to gain access to the game worldwide at the same time. This is likely to be at midnight EDT, like the Mercenaries Mode DLC, as the 1:00 PM confirmed release time for Steam and Xbox in Japan would equate to a midnight release time on the US East Coast.

Separate Ways has been confirmed as a paid DLC expansion for Resident Evil 4 Remake, not a free DLC like the Mercenaries Mode free update launching on the same day.

Although we haven't confirmed it directly as the game is not yet for sale, many sites are reporting that Separate Ways will cost an additional $9.99 on top of the base game due to allegedly being listed with that price on the Capcom press website. Note that Game8 has not verified this info, so take it with a grain of salt.

As of September 21, the DLC is now available for purchase on the Playstation Store. Simply go to the Store Page of Resident Evil 4 and scroll until you see the icon for the Separate Ways DLC. Similarly the DLC is also now available on Steam and the Microsoft Store.

RE4 Remake - Separate Ways DLC File Size

The Separate Ways DLC is tagged as 21.75 on the PS Store, but that is if you download both the PS4 and PS5 copies of the DLC. On the PS5, it's only around 12.51 GB but is paired alongside a patch update that's around 3.6 GB.

Separate Ways is a side campaign released in all versions of the original Resident Evil 4 except for the GameCube and VR releases. It is unlocked by completing the main game. You play as Ada Wong as she goes through the events of Resident Evil 4. Completing the side campaign rewards the player with the Chicago Typewriter weapon and a new costume for Leon.
