Where to Find Tanith

Tanith can be found inside Volcano Manor at the Altus Plateau. To get to her, players will need to traverse the treacherous Mt. Gelmir starting from either the Erdtree-Gazing Hill or the First Mt. Gelmir Campsite.

How to Complete Tanith's Questline

Lady Tanith is an NPC that leads the Recusants of Volcano Manor. Progress her questline to get unique weapons, armor, and talismans for completing the different Volcano Manor contracts.

Note: As of Patch 1.04, Tanith's questline still has no definite ending.

Speak to Her and Join Volcano Manor

When you arrive at the Volcano Manor, speak to Tanith and she will give you the chance to join the Recusants - hunters of fellow Tarnished. Join their group to progress Tanith's questline.

Use the Drawing-Room Key Tanith gives you to enter the drawing room at the end of the long hallway. Inside, you will find a letter containing your first mission as well as the familiar faces of Rya, Bernahl, and Diallos.

In order to keep interacting with Tanith, players will need to complete the Volcano Manor questline. This will include a series of invasions where players have to defeat other Tarnished to advance their reputation at the Manor.

For each successful mission, Tanith will reward you with different items and spells. If you complete the very last mission, she will offer to transport you to the area outside Rykard's boss room, making it easier than simply exploring the legacy dungeon until you find him.

Speak to Tanith After Meeting Zorayas

After you defeat Old Knight Istvan for the Manor, look for Rya in one of the many rooms opposite the Drawing Room. She will be in her snake form.

Speak to her and have her tell you her real name, Zorayas. Once her dialogue is exhausted, return to Tanith to unlock the dialogue option about Zorayas.

Ask Tanith About Zorayas' Troubles

After you defeat Rileigh the Idle for the Volcano Manor, progress Rya's questline until you can tell her about Volcano Manor's dark secret. Once she knows, head back to Tanith and confront her about Rya's suspicions.

Find the Illusory Wall

To get the prompt to reveal the manor's secret to Rya, players will first have to go through the illusory wall that leads to the Volcano Manor Legacy Dungeon. The wall can be found inside the first room to your right when heading to the manor drawing room.

Since combat is not allowed inside this section of the manor, roll into the wall to open it. Bring a Torch or a Lantern before exploring as the area will be very dark.

Open the Door at the Prison Tower Church

Once you get through the dark hallways, head over to the Prison Tower Church site of grace and unlock it. Then, open the door leading outside to unlock the legacy dungeon. The option to tell Rya about the Manor's secret should now be unlocked when you return to her.

Tell Rya About Volcano Manor

After you open the Prison Tower Church door, return to Rya and tell her about the Manor's secret. Exhaust her dialogue before returning to Tanith. If done correctly, Tanith should now have a new dialogue option regarding Zorayas' troubles.

Retrieve the Tonic of Forgetfulness

After you give Rya the Serpent's Amnion, reload the area and you will find that she has disappeared from her room in the Manor.

Ask Tanith about Zorayas' absence and she will give you a Tonic of Forgetfulness to give to Rya. If given, Rya will forget about all the dark secrets of Volcano Manor.

Defeat the Godskin Noble

To get the Serpent's Amnion, you will first have to defeat the Godskin Noble guarding the Temple of Eiglay. Beat him to receive the Godskin Stitcher and Noble Presence incantation.

How to Beat Godskin Noble

Retrieve the Serpent's Amnion

After the boss is defeated, retrieve the Serpent's Amnion from the temple's altar. Give it to Rya back in her room to help her confirm the truth behind her birth.

Speak to Tanith about Rya's Absence

Once Rya has the Serpent's Amnion, reload the area and return to Tanith. Speak to her and select the dialogue option Zorayas' absence. Listen to what she has to say and receive the Tonic of Forgetfulness from the concerned mother.

Defeat Rykard, Lord of Blasphemy

Once players have progressed all of the NPC questlines in Volcano Manor, confront Rykard and defeat him using the Serpent-Hunter spear found inside his boss room.

To get to his boss room, players can either complete the Volcano Manor questline and speak to Tanith, or they can explore the Legacy Dungeon until they find a waygate that takes them to the boss room.

How to Beat Rykard, Lord of Blasphemy

Confront Tanith at Rykard's Corpse

After players defeat Rykard, Lord of Blasphemy, Tanith will say that she is about to leave the manor along with the others. However, if players return to Rykard's boss room, she will be there feasting on the dead demigod's flesh.

After Patch 1.03, Patches' questline now also ties in with Tanith's. Progress it to unlock the option to give her the Dancer's Castanets key item and receive new dialogue.

Give Her the Dancer's Castanets

Part of Patches' questline will involve Lady Tanith. Once players have the Dancer's Castanets key item, return to Tanith inside Rykard's boss room and give it to her. This will prompt extra dialogue about the castanets' use.

Kill Lady Tanith

If you have no plans to continue Patches' questline, killing Tanith as she feasts on Rykard's carcass is an option. However, once you kill her, you will be invaded by Tanith's Knight.

Defeat him to receive the Aspects of the Crucible: Breath incantation. Reload the area to loot the Consort's Mask, Consort's Robe, and Consort's Trousers from where Tanith died earlier.

Lore and Trivia

Lore

• Long ago, Tanith was once a dancer in a foreign land. It was there that Rykard first met her and made her his consort. When the Lord of Blasphemy took on the visage of the serpent, it was only Tanith who remained by his side.
• Tanith would later become the proprietress of the Volcano Manor, guiding the Recusants as the mouth of her Lord, Rykard. During this time, she would also become the adoptive mother of the Great Serpent's child - Zorayas.
• When the Tarnished arrives at the Volcano Manor and slays Rykard, Tanith will go mad and start devouring the corpse of her lord. Just as Rykard allowed himself to be devoured by the Great Serpent, Tanith hopes that her beloved may find purchase within her in a similar fashion.

Trivia

• As of Patch 1.04, Tanith still has no resolution to her quest even after handing her the Dancer's Castanets.
• Tanith's Tonic of Forgetfulness can also be given to Corhyn when you meet him at the Mountaintops of the Giants during his questline.
