Quest Objectives

Speak to His Specter in Ranni's Rise

Seluvis - Specter

The first time players speak to Seluvis will be at Ranni's Rise in Caria Manor. However, this will be brief as he will soon tell you that he is actually in Seluvis's Rise, a different tower in the area. Speak to him and he will think little of you.

Speak to Seluvis at Seluvis' Rise

Players can interact with Seluvis again once they head over to Seluvis' Rise in Three Sisters. He will give you a potion that you are supposed to give to Nepheli Loux. In return, he will be available as a merchant of different Sorceries.

Should Players Give Nepheli the Potion?

Give the Potion to Gideon

Giving Nepheli the potion will turn her into a puppet, locking players from completing her questline. For a safe way out, players can give the potion to Gideon so that he may dispose of it.

If given to Gideon, Seluvis will still unlock as a merchant of Sorceries as he will believe you gave the potion to Nepheli but it was not effective. Choose this option this if you want to keep progressing Nepheli's questline.

Make the Dung Eater a Puppet

Give the Potion to the Dung Eater

It is also possible to make the Dung Eater a purchaseable puppet. However, this includes gaining access to Leyndell and completing part of the Dung Eater's questline. Like with Nepheli, choosing this option will lock you out of the Dung Eater ending.

Once players get to the point where they can feed Seedbed Curses to the Dung Eater at the Subterranean Shunning-Grounds, administer Seluvis' potion and he will become a puppet later on that you can purchase from Seluvis.

Dung Eater Questline and Location

Find Seluvis' Puppet Room

Seluvis Puppet Dungeon

For players looking for proof of Seluvis' nefarious ways, head over to the Illusory Wall in the area of the Three Sisters. Inside is the puppet dungeon of Seluvis which contains a host of mindless, enthralled puppets that he refers to as his property.

Additionally, you can ask him about this dungeon he calls his quarters, later on. He will answer by saying you can have one puppet from his collection to sate your curiosity. This is a choice between the Finger Maiden Therolina Puppet or the Jarwight Puppet.

Unlocks Purchase of Puppets

Seluvis Puppet Selling

After you receive your first puppet, you can return to Seluvis and he will start selling the remaining puppet in exchange for Starlight Shards.

His stock will include either the Finger Maiden Therolina Puppet or Jarwight Puppet (depending on which one you initially got), as well as the NPC you gave the potion to.

Returning to Seluvis for Advice

Returning to Seluvis

If players have already met Blaid the Half-Wolf after descending the Siofra River Well, they can progress the questline by returning to Seluvis' Rise in Caria Manor.

Speaking to Seluvis at his tower will prompt him to give you a clue on how to find Nokron, the Eternal City. He will write a letter to Sellen, who has been investigating the matter for him.

Seluvis' Scheme

Seluvis Scheme

Buying a second puppet will later unlock a dialogue option pertaining to Seluvis' scheme to make Ranni the Witch his puppet.

Speak to him about it and he will send you out to look for Amber Starlight. If you return to him with the item, Seluvis will reward you with Magic Scorpion Charm.

Retrieve the Amber Starlight

This item is easily found to the north east of the Altus Highway Junction site of grace at the Altus Plateau. It can be found in front of a statue, inside the small, shadowy ravine.

Should You Give the Potion to Ranni?

Giving Ranni the Potion

Giving the potion to Ranni will leave her upset with you, rebuffing any form of conversation when you speak to her at Ranni's Rise. Naturally, this locks you out from completing Ranni's questline.

To get back into Ranni's good graces and complete her questline, players can secure Celestial Dew and absolve their sins at the Church of Vows. This allows you to speak to Ranni as if nothing bad happened.

Seluvis' Death

Seluvis Death

Once you attempt to give Ranni the Amber Draught, Seluvis will die. If you return to him at Seluvis' Rise, he will already be dead. Loot his Bell Bearing and the Preceptor armor set from his corpse if this happens.

If players want to access his Puppet Merchant inventory, all they need to do is interact with his body. The option to purchase puppets in exchange for Starlight Shards will still be available.

Seluvis Information and Lore

Lore

  • Seluvis is a wizard under the employ of Ranni the Witch. He is the most shifty of Ranni's band, going so far as to plan and scheme on his own, without the input from either Iji or Blaidd.
  • When players stumble upon Seluvis' hidden dungeon, he will reveal that he makes a habit of collecting the inhabitants of the Lands Between by turning them into puppets using his potion. A follower of this practice is Pidia, Carian Servant, to whom he gives one of his prized puppets.
  • His downfall is brought about when he tries to enthrall Ranni. Due to his plan to use Amber Starlight, Blaidd is sent to kill both Seluvis and Pidia for treason against the group. Blaidd will tell you this using a message he leaves in the Mistwood Ruins after the way to Nokron is opened.

Trivia

  • Gideon Ofnir has no love for the man. Despite saying that there is no code that protects the members of the Roundtable from one another, he will still try to persuade the tarnished not to follow Seluvis' orders.
  • The animosity between Gideon and Seluvis is documented by Dolores the Sleeping Arrow Puppet's item description. It is said that she was the reason why the two came to part ways.
  • Players will in fact encounter Finger Maiden Therolina during the Radahn Festival. Interact with her before speaking to Jerren to receive the Polite Bow gesture.

Seluvis Quotes

"I see...You must be Ranni's new hireling. Yes, yes, I've head all about you. I am Seluvis, perceptor in the sorcerous arts. I don't know what it is the mistress sees in a provincial Tarnished like you, but since we have the misfortune of serving the same Lady, I ask that you kindly try not to drag us all down with you."
"Well, well. You took me at my word. Did you not realise I was merely being polite? You provincials never cease to amaze..."
"You yearn for a puppet of your own, hmm? Well, normally one of your stature would never be allowed. But perhaps I can make a very special exception."
