Speak to Iji in Northern Liurnia

Speaking to Iji will unlock him as a blacksmith in Liurnia. Just like Smithing Master Hewg, he can Strengthen Armaments. Unfortunately however, Iji cannot work Ashes of War.

Instead, he allows player to purchase Somber Smithing Stones. Additionally, if you've finished Blaidd the Half-Wolf's quest in Limgrave's Mistwood, you can mention it to Iji and he will also sell a Carian Filigreed Crest for 5000 Runes.

After players beat Royal Knight Loretta, the rest of Caria Manor in Liurnia will be free to explore. Pledge your service to Ranni the Witch to meet Iji's astral projection inside Ranni's Rise.

Iji will tell you that he is actually the Carian royal family's dedicated blacksmith and is now currenty also serving as Ranni's war counsellor. Return to the Road to the Manor Site of Grace and speak to Iji about the eternal city of Nokron and Lady Ranni's task for Blaidd.

Discovering Nokron

After defeating Starscourge Radahn as part of the questlines for Blaidd and Ranni, return to Iji and he will tell you to descend into Nokron on your own.

If you discover Blaidd locked away at the Forlorn Hound Evergaol, returning and speaking to Iji again will explain why he imprisoned Blaidd before Ranni could fulfill her destiny.

After Delivering the Fingerslaying Blade

Once you deliver the Fingerslayer Blade to Ranni, you can return to Iji and he will call you Ranni's true champion. He will also comment that his time is almost up and ask you to serve her till the very end.

After Killing Blaidd

Return to Iji after you have killed Blaidd at the end of his questline. He will express remorse in that he doubted Blaidd's loyalty to their Lady. In the end, he will mention that he hopes Blaidd forgives him should they meet in the afterlife.

Death of Iji the Blacksmith

Once players finish the questlines of both Ranni and Blaidd, they can return to Iji by the Road to the Manor site of grace in Liurnia. You will find Iji's smoldering corpse in front of his anvil.

Loot his anvil to receive Iji's Bell Bearing and Iji's Mirrorhelm. The Bell Bearing can be given to the Twin-Maiden Husks to access Iji's merchant inventory, allowing you to keep buying Somber Smithing Stones.

Iji is located near the Road to the Manor Site of Grace in Liurnia. You will have to hit a fake wall from the Kingsrealm Ruins to reveal the path to the Site of Grace.

Iji's drops can only be obtained after his death when you progress Ranni's and Blaidd's questline.

The Carian Filigreed Crest is only available if players finished Blaidd the Half-Wolf's quest in Mistwood.

Iji Information and Lore

Lore

• Iji is the Carian royal family's dedicated blacksmith, tracing his history as far back as when Blaidd and Lady Ranni were still children. Currently, he serves as a war counsellor for Ranni, following her down the dark path of the Empyrean.
• Iji has a close relation to both siblings, but he also knows of Blaidd's true nature as an instrument of the Two Fingers. It is for this reason that he imprisons Blaidd at the Forlorn Hound Evergaol, knowing that Ranni was about to sever herself from the influence of the Two Fingers.
• In the end, Ranni manages to fulfill her goal, leaving the world behind to join the stars. Iji and the rest of Ranni's servants, remain in the Lands Between. Soon, the vengeance of the Two Fingers comes for them, and all of them are killed in the final act.

Trivia

• If players look around the battlefield after Iji's death, they will find that he managed to kill three Black Knife Assassins before the black flames consumed him.
• Iji uses a Troll's Hammer when smithing. According to the weapon's description, these hammers were actually used in the distant past as ceremonial smithing tools.
• If players kill Blaidd in Limgrave or if they do anything to upset Ranni (like giving her the Amber Draught), Iji will vanish from his spot beside the Road to the Manor site of grace. He will not drop anything when this happens. To get him to respawn, players will need to collect Celestial Dew and seek absolution at the Church of Vows.
• There is a ghost at the Kingsrealm Ruins that reveals Iji's affiliation to the Carian Royals even before you speak to Ranni the Witch.
