Inside a Locked Door in Hlynka

There is an AKM-74U inside the red brick house with a locked door in Hlynka. You can find a Key to the Old Padlock inside a TV in the white house at the northeastern side of Hlynka.

Use the key to open the locked door of the red brick house. Ready your weapon when you open the door as a Bayun, a mutant dog, and a mutant rat will come out of the house to attack.

Dropped by Human Enemies

The AKM-74U can drop from human enemies upon their death, and is a common weapon amongst ISPF soldiers. Note that a dropped AKM-74U will usually have medium to low durability (making it prone to jamming if you plan to use them as is).

Early in the game, you may be ambushed by an enemy using the AKM-74U after opening Zhorik's stash northeast of his spot as part of the mission Dangerous Visitors.

Buy from Hamster at Zalissya

An AKM-74U can appear and be bought from the Trader Hamster at Zalissya in the Lesser Zone region. Reaching Zalissya is part of the A Tough Awakening main mission and is one of the earliest settlements you can find at the start of the game.

Buy from Huron at Slag Heap

The M860 Cracker can be bought from the Trader Huron at Slag Heap located up north further from the Northern Checkpoint. You will reach Slag Heap as part of the mission The Price Goes Up.
