After Diode contacts you and tells you to meet him, make your way back to the Slag Heap, directly west of the Plant. Go to Diode's usual spot and Sgt. Metlov will tell you that he is on the second floor.
Head to the first floor and open the first door on the left. You will initiate a conversation with Col. Korshunov, a cutscene will play, and you will be prompted to make a choice. You can show them the unusual PDA or choose not to show them the unusual PDA at all.
Go back to the ground floor, and you will see Richter hollering at you. Follow Richter outside and exhaust his dialogue to progress the mission.
Go to the Sawmill, marked on your PDA Map southeast of the Slag Heap. Once you get there, you will hear Kogut and Scar talking on the radio, letting you in.
Talk to Scar and you will eventually be prompted to choose whether to show or not show the unusual PDA once again. The mission will end after you make your choice.

Scar and Star will express their distrust towards you — Star will even call you a snitch. Scar will tell you to do as you please but follows it up with a foreboding, '...but watch your head'.
Scar will tell you that it was nice to know you and thank you for your help.

If you showed the Unusual PDA to Col. Korshunov and Dr. Dalin: ・Ward Badge ・3000 Coupons (Stalker Difficulty) If you gave the Ward Sensors to Richter in A Needle in a Haystack: ・Combatant (Unique AKM-74S) |
Do note that if you sided with Zotov and gave the Ward Sensors to him during A Needle in a Haystack, you will not be eligible to get the Combatant assault rifle. Unfortunately, since you've already met Korshunov, he won't offer the AR as a reward for cooperating with them during Back to Slag Heap.
