Killing or sparing Hermann is a timed choice during the Wishful Thinking main mission of STALKER 2: Heart of Chornobyl. Read on to learn if you should kill Hermann and find out the consequences and results of each choice during the mission, Down Below.

| Let him go. | Agatha let's Hermann go free. You'll meet Hermann again during Down Below if you're on the Ward ending route. Both he and Agatha will comment that you chose right by sparing Hermann. |
| He has to die. | You shoot Hermann but later learn in Down Below (if you're on the Ward ending route) that it wasn't real. Agatha comments that she let you think you shot Hermann in order to get you to cool off. |
Killing Hermann is a timed decision you need to make during the main mission, Wishful Thinking. Regardless of your choice, Hermann will appear alive and well during the main mission, Down Below since Agatha confirms that you killing him wasn't real, and that it was only a means to placate you at the time.
Note: This interaction will only appear if you're playing to get the Ward Ending. If you side with Strelok, Kaymanov, or Spark, you will no longer see Hermann for the rest of the game and he will not appear in the mission, Down Below.
Should You Kill Hermann?
Spare Him to Get Agatha to View You Positively
Regardless of your choice, Hermann will live and later appear in Down Below during the Ward ending route. If you're looking to side with the Ward, it's better to choose Let him go since Agatha (and even Hermann) will comment that you made the right choice and that they did not expect you to be level-headed at the time.
Players looking to get the other endings (and who don't particularly like Hermann) can simply choose the He has to die option in order to see Skif shoot the doctor.
However, you'll notice that you did not actually kill him if you go down the Spark route since Hermann won't appear as one of the dead characters alongside Solder, Varan, and even Zotov during the mission, Through the Valley of the Shadow of Death.
