Can You Save Scum?

Yes, You Can Save Scum

Manually Save from the Pause Menu

Similar to the previous iterations of STALKER, you can reload load however many times you want to re-do actions. This is especially useful during missions that have multiple Choices that affect the outcome of both the mission and the main story.

However, do note that you cannot save in the middle of combat. This is one of the rare instances where manual saving is disabled. If you find yourself in a pinch, check how far away your most recent save was before deciding whether to fight or book it.

Only 31 Manual Save Slots Available

Unfortunately, out of the 50 available save slots, only 31 are Manual save slots and you do not have the option of renaming these saves (unlike previous STALKER games). This makes it hard to go back to certain parts of the story since save data will only display the time and location of the save file.

How to Save

19 Save Slots are Reserved for Auto and Quick Saves

The remaining 19 save slots that make out the 50 max slots will be for Autosaves and Quick Saves. These will overwrite each other as you progress, so make sure to have at least 1 recent manual save that you can fall back on should you get a bad autosave while exploring.
