Set Gamma Setting to Around 80%

Defeault Gamma setting
44% Gamma (Default)
83 percent Gamma setting
83% Gamma

The easiest way to increase visibility and make your surrounding brighter is to increase the Gamma setting to 80-85%. You can leave the Contrast and Brightness settings to their default value, but you are free to adjust them to a level that is suitable for you.
