King of the Hill is an optional Main Mission located in the Garbage region in STALKER 2: Heart of Chornobyl. Read on to see the King of the Hill mission location and rewards, and learn who to kill in this mission!

You can only get this quest during Deal with the Devil main mission and choosing not to kill Varan or paying him 20,000 Coupons.

It's best if you don't to take this mission as you will end up getting betrayed by Varan and attack you in the end. You can attack him during the deal, save a lot of time, and continue with the Deal with the Devil main mission.

Who to Kill in the King of the Hill?

Kill the Shah and Roosevelt to Complete the Mission

If you accept the mission, it will require you to kill either the Shah or Roosevelt to earn Varan's approval to see the prisoners. You must kill at least one of them and get their PDA as a proof of killing them (each choice will have its own set of consequences). However, do note that regardless of who you kill, Varan will betray you after you see the prisoners.

Note: Killing both will only net you an additional voiceline once you present the PDAs of both men to Varan. He will still betray you though after you exit the room holding Nestor and his attacker during Deal with the Devil, so it isn't that much better of a choice.

Should You Kill Shah or Roosevelt?

Kill Varan to Skip the Mission

You can choose to kill Varan instead and skip the whole mission. Even if you have started it, you can still attack Varan and kill him. That will end the King of the Hill without completing it, but you can still progress normally through the main story after that.

You can try to talk to Huron and Borodulin to make things a little bit easier when trying to kill the Shah and Roosevelt. You can do and complete them in any order you like.

If you don't want to do these optional objectives, you can skip to the next one.

Take a Job from Huron

You can get an easier time getting into the Brood and killing Shah if you take a job from Huron at Slag Heap. Taking the job will trigger the No Honor Among Thieves side mission.

Talk to Borodulin

Talk to Borodulin on the road west of the Hydroelectric Station. He has information on how to sneak through the Commissary where Roosevelt is residing.

However, he will demand you to accompany him for a little hunt before he gives you the info. You will fight off mutants with him and then satisfy his hunting urge by hiding or running from him for 1 minute. Try not to choose the [Threaten] Option, as he will become hostile, and you won't get the information you need.

Kill the Shah or Roosevelt to get their PDA, as those will be the proof that you kill them. You can try to kill both of them, but you only need to kill one of them to progress.

If you have done the optional objectives before this, completing these will be a little bit easier.
Should You Kill Shah or Roosevelt?

Kill the Shah

Head to the Brood's Base located north of Slag Heap to kill the Shah. You can come there with guns blazing or you can sneak through the window using the metal pipe connected to the building where the Shah is.

1	Follow the pipes until the raised segment that can't be reached with a normal jump. From here, turn around to see a crane and hop on to its part where the cables meet. Perform a short running jump from the crane onto the raised segment to continue.
2	At the end of the pipes is a wooden board leaning on an open window. The Shah's room is just ahead to your left.

Loot his PDA after killing him and bring it back to Varan, but take note that killing the Shah will negatively affect your relation with the Brood, making them hostile against you.

Kill Roosevelt

Go to the Commissary and take out Roosevelt. You can can fight him and his subordinates head on or you can go to the secret passage from Borodulin (marked on the map) to sneak up to him.

If you choose to sneak in, you will be spotted by Roosevelt, but he will try to talk you out of killing him. However, he will not hand you the PDA if you decide not to kill him.

Note that killing Roosevelt will affect the choices in the Legends of the Zone main mission.

Bring Shah's and Roosevelt's PDA to Varan

Return to the Plant and hand over the PDAs to Varan. He will then let you see the prisoners, but you will find them dead.

Varan will try to eliminate you after that, making this mission pointless and a waste of time, and you could've killed him right from the start.
