On the Edge is a Side Mission located in the Lesser Zone in STALKER 2: Heart of Chornobyl. Read on to see the On the Edge mission location, detailed walkthrough, and all its rewards!

Location and Mission Info

Take note that you can fail this mission if you ignored the Gaffer's call for aid. Leaving the Lesser Zone after going to Zalissya during On the Edge will fail this quest. This will be confirmed by Gaffer final transmission that Zalissya has fallen.

Completion Rewards

The Coupon rewards are obtained from the optional objectives. You'll receive 1000 Coupons by retrieving Warlock's weapon and the other 1000 Coupons for dealing with Hamster.

On the Edge Walkthrough

Defend Zalissya

You'll find the town hall of Zalissya under attack by Monolithians and stalkers defending it as you arrive. Help them eliminate the attackers to officially start the quest.

Talk to Warlock (Optional)

Before actually starting the mission, you can look for Warlock in the next room first and ask for the specifics for this mission. Two optional objectives will pop up after the conversation: Get Supplies from Hamster and Find Warlock's Weapon.

Find Warlock's Weapon (Optional)

Let's find Warlock's beloved gun first. Go back outside and walk straight to the east until you run into a house with a broken brown car leaning on it. Warlock's weapon is on the northwest corner of the garage.

As this is an optional objective, you can choose not to bring it back to Warlock and keep the weapon for yourself. Although, this will only lock you out of the 1000 Coupon reward for completing this request.

Note: Warlock's weapon, Partner, is a unique weapon. If you're a collector and want to keep the weapon for yourself, put Partner in one of your stashes first so you don't accidentally return it to Warlock when you talk to him again.

Get Supplies from Hamster (Optional)

Across the building where the Gaffer and Warlock are is a bunker entrance that will lead to where Hamster is. Just before you reach the bottom of the stairs, Hamster and Ricochet will stop you, initiating a choice event that can only go two ways.

The best choice for this objective is to drop them on the spot, as they will be killed by the Gaffer later on anyway if they managed to walk out alive. You'll also need to shell out 6000 Coupons for a peaceful outcome, but will only be rewarded with 1000 Coupons when you return to the Gaffer.

Ask for Stalkers in Zalissya if They Need Any Help (Optional)

While you're still in the town hall, check the east room and find a stalker named Mykolaich. He will ask for your help retrieving his spare surgery kit in one of the Gaffer's stashes.

The surgery kit can be in one of the marked spots. You'll have to check each of them until you find the kit as its exact location is randomized. Once you have it, return to Mykolaich to complete the objective.

Eliminate the Monolithian Scouts (Optional)

The Monolithian Scouts that need to be dealt with are on the ridge southwest of the town hall. Take them out from below and you can move on to the next objective.

Check Uncle Lyonya's House

Once all the optional objectives are complete, run to the southern end of the Lesser Zone and find an isolated triangular house. The entrance has a tripwire so disarm it first before checking inside. Interacting with the radio near the window changes its frequency to receive a broadcast revealing Uncle Lyonya's true identity.

Kill Uncle Lyonya

Prepare for a fight before you exit the house as some Monolithians, including Lyonya, are now outside. Take them all out before moving on to the next objective.

Return to the Gaffer

Talk to the Gaffer in the town hall (same room where you found Mykolaich) to report on the status on his requests. He will give you 1000 Coupons if you dealt with Hamster in one of the optional objectives and the SEVA Suit for eliminating Lyonya.

Fight Off the Monolith Attack

Soon after talking to the Gaffer, this mission will reappear on your map and you will receive another broadcast from him, calling everyone in Zalissya to arms as a second wave of Monolithians storm the town hall.

The fight will be chaotic and you might shoot allies in the thick of the fray. Doing so will fail the mission so make sure you're unloading your bullets at Monolithians. Once all of the attacking forces are defeated, the mission will finally be complete.

On the Edge Bug Fix

Use a Clean Save

To make sure you have a chance to save Zalissya during your current playthrough, create a manual save immediately after the main mission, To the Last Drop of Blood. Do this as soon as you exit the MOLE facility under SIRCAA so that you have a clean save where Gaffer hasn't radioed that Zalissya is under attack.

Prioritize Finishing On the Edge Over Main Missions

Alternatively, you can book it toward Zalissya as soon as you finish To the Last Drop of Blood rather than working to complete Just Like the Good Old Days. By prioritizing this side mission, you'll have a chance to avoid the softlocks that occur when you arrive late and the Monolith are, seemingly, no longer attacking the town.
