The Bandits are a group comprised mostly of escaped convicts. Their members can range from petty thieves and thugs, to organized crime sydicates. They are hostile to anyone not a part of their ranks, and are pretty much at war with all the other factions.
The Renegades are composed of primarily of Bandits who broke from the main faction due to differences in leadership, and other Stalkers who broke off from their respective factions. While they have no formal heirarchy or leadership, the Renegades function more as gangs controlling their own territory.
First and foremost, Clear Sky is made up not of fighters, but of scientists and researchers. However while they are not trained fighters, they can still use a rifle just like anyone. Their goals are not about control of power, but rather an endeavor to study and understand the Zone.
As it was unclear in the previous game, the fate of Clear Sky will be followed up upon in STALKER 2.
The Mercenaries, as their name implies, are military contractors who operate only on the basis of money. Their services are not limited to hired killing, as they are also hired for infiltration, reconnaisance, or extraction.
The Free Stalkers, Loners, or simply just Stalkers, is not exactly a faction but rather a name given to Stalkers who do not belong to a faction. They are also not banded together under a singular ideal nor driven by any singular motive, instead they just let each other be.
Freedom is a Ukrainian paramilitary organization whose only goal is to prevent the government's effort in covering up the true events of Chornobyl and prevent any one faction from having complete control of the Zone. Much like Clear Sky, they think that the Zone is something to be studied for the benefit of mankind.
Duty is another paramilitary Stalker faction much like Freedom. However, their ideals differ when it comes to what should be the ultimate attitude towards the Zone. While Freedom does not believe that the Zone should nor could be destroyed, Duty wholly believes that the Zone should be destroyed.
The Monolith is the closest thing you get to a religious cult formed out of fear of the unknown. Most Monolithian are suspected to be under some form of brainwashing caused by the psychic emitters found throughout the Zone. They have been the main antagonist faction in the STALKER franchise.
The Scientists, or otherwise known as the Ecologists, are a group of government-funded researchers who believe that science can fix all the wrongs that have emerged from the Zone. They intend to study the Zone for the benefit of mankind. This faction is the most neutral of all the factions, being hostile only to members of Monolith.
The Ukrainian Military, or simply the Military, is composed mostly of trained soldiers sanctioned by the government to guard the perimeter of Chornobyl as well as complete covert operations for the benefit of the government's agenda.
Noon is composed of former Monolithian soldiers who banded togerther after learning that their brainwashing has failed. This faction is lead and founded by Strider, but by 2013 a power vacuum has opened and internal conflict with Faust makes the future of this faction yet to be determined.
Spark is the faction formed by Scar, a veteran mercenary and the protagonist of STALKER Clear Sky. There isn't much known about Spark at the moment.
The Ward is one of the newer factions teased in E3 back in 2021. This group is led by Colonel Korshunov, and acts as the keepers of the peace in the Zone. The main duty of the Ward is to protect SIRCAA (Scientific Institute of Research of the Chornobyl Anomalous Area).
The International Perimeter Security Force, or the IPSF is another new faction. Not much is known about this faction yet, whether they are allied with the Ukranian government, or a coalition of world governments formed to prevent anything or anyone from escaping the Zone.
The Factions are individual groups of individuals who are all vying for power and control over the Zone. Each faction has a set of beliefs and ideals that determines who they ally with, and who they treat as their enemies.
Their power struggles can be seen as political much like how the Military's presence is mandated by the government, however it could also be seen as a means to ensure survival.
