Starting The Poppy Field Mission
When you visit Hamster's Shop in Zalissya for the first time, you'll notice Mityay talking to a Stalker about a job. Approach Mityay near the shop entrance after their conversation and choose the [Mission] Get to the point dialogue option to start the Poppy Field mission.
Find and Enter the Root Cellar
You can find the Root Cellar west of the barn and the house in the middle of the field. You can get there by walking through the riverbank until you reach the west end of the field, making the run to the Root Cellar much easier. Grab the Orthodox Icon on the shelf once you're inside the Root Cellar.
You have the option to pay 2000 Coupons or help Pomor to get the Root Cellar location marked on your map if you want. Helping Pomor is more difficult than paying him or getting to the Root Cellar yourself, as you will have to cross the field multiple times to loot the bodies of dead Stalkers.
Help Pomor Loot the Bodies of Dead Stalkers (Optional)
You can help Pomor with looting the bodies of the dead Stalkers around the field for guns and ammo. You can return to him once you've looted four of the five dead bodies in the field.

| Body #5 |  You can find the last dead body inside the house on the bed. You can get inside by destroying the wooden planks on the door or through the open window. |
Find Free Energy Drinks in a Stash at the Truck
You can find a stash on a truck located south of the field. You can try to get it if you don't have any Energy Drinks for this mission.
It contains 4 Energy Drinks that should help you cross the field without getting sleepy quickly. You can also find a note saying that these are free to take.
Decide What to Do with the Orthodox Icon

| Trade the Icon to Pomor | Get the Unknown Stalker's AR416 with 10% durability from Pomor. |
| Trade the Icon to Pomor and Kill Him (Best Option) |
Get the Unknown Stalker's AR416 from Pomor and Coupons from Mityay. |
You will have 3 options to choose from when deciding who to give the icon to. Of the three, your best option will be to trade the icon to Pomor first to get the Unknown Stalker's AR416, before killing him to get the icon back. You'll then be able to trade the icon to Mityay to get the Coupon reward. Doing it this way ensures you get all of the possible rewards.
Killing Pomor Has no Consequences
Unless you're looking to craft a certain narrative for your playthrough, killing Pomor to get all the possible quest rewards will have no consequences. You can safely kill this NPC if you want both the Unknown Stalker's AR416 and Mityay's Coupon reward.

He left it in an old root cellar somewhere in the Poppy Field. That place has a knack for putting folks to sleep, he says, so retrieving the icon won't be easy. | |
You can get The Poppy Field mission during the Behind Seven Seals main mission after reaching Zalissya, which is very early in the game.
Note that this mission will fail automatically if you don't finish it by the time you enter SIRCAA.

You can get a set Coupon reward depending on the difficulty of your playthrough if you return the Icon to Mityay. You can also trade the Icon to Pomor to get the Unknown Stalker's AR416.
Normally, you can only choose between the Coupon or the weapon reward. However, if you trade the Icon to Pomor and kill him, you can get the weapon and the Icon to return to Mityay and get the Coupon reward.

Anonymous about 1 yearMakes sense to kill Pompor after trading the Icon. He said he'd give you a good weapon, then gives a broken weapon! I think many stalkers would kill him after that.
