| The Warden guard at the Chemical Plant, Mateus, asked me to bring him an artifact from the Chemical Tanks. He said no one would match the pay he offers for it. | |
Mission will Fail if You Leave it for a Long Time
This mission will fail automatically if you leave if for too long. Make sure to prioritize this mission once you obtain it to avoid that from happening (especially since the Chemical Tanks POI is only a short walk from the Chemical Plant Base).

Get the Soul Artifact
Go to the Chemical Tanks
Travel south from the Chemical Plant to get to the Chemical Tanks. The Soul Artifact will be there marked on the map.
Kill the Psy Dogs
There will be Psy Dogs guarding the compound. Kill them all first before searching for the artifact.
Grab the Soul Artifact Inside the Poison Anomaly Area
Head to the poison anomaly in the area and go up the metal platform to find it at the ledge. Try not to jump from there after getting the artifact, as there will be tons of mutants below.
Decide What to Do with the Artifact

You have three options on what to do with the Soul Artifact. You can either give it to Mateus or Prof. Zaretskyi, or keep the artifact to yourself.
Give the Artifact to Mateus
You can follow the main objective for this mission, which is to give the artifact to Mateus. The mission will conclude after that.
Give the Artifact to Prof. Zaretskyi
You can follow the optional objective and give the artifact to Prof. Zaretskyi. Giving it to her will get you 4,139 Coupons.
Keep the Artifact to Yourself
You can tell that you can't do the job to Mateus after getting the artifact to keep it. You can then use and equip it or you can sell it to a trader.

- The best ending for this quest is, instead of giving the artifact away, you drop down into the hole amongst the chemical area where there's mutants. - After dispatching of them loot the body of a soldier there to get a PDA. - Show the PDA to the scientist, who'll tell you to toss the soldier's body into an anomaly. Go do that for some $ and return to scientist. - Then go back to Lt Mateus and show the PDA to him for more $ and you get to keep the artifact.
