Zalissya Under Attack Bug

The Zalissya under attack bug prevents players from defending the town during the side mission, On the Edge, in STALKER 2: Heart of Chornobyl. Read on to learn more about the Zalissya under attack bug as well as possible fixes for the softlocks that occur during the On the Edge mission.

Zalissya Under Attack Bug Explained

On the Edge Side Mission has Multiple Progress Blockers

Even after the fixes brought by both Patch 1.0.1 and Patch 1.0.2, the On the Edge side mission is still very buggy and difficult to complete. We tested this quest using 2 different playthroughs on Patch 1.0.2 and we encountered multiple progress blockers that prevented the quest from completing.

Although, do note that the bugs are inconsistent and vary for each playthrough. Based on testing, one save encountered a soft lock that prevented the quest from even starting while on a different save, the final Monolith attack bugged out, preventing the quest from ever completing.

No Official Fixes Have Been Announced

At the time of writing, no official fixes have been announced. However, do note that this is not an isolated case. Multiple main missions after the SIRCAA arc of the main story also exhibit bugs and progress blockers similar to the Zalissya under attack bug.

Possible Fixes for On the Edge Bugs

Make Sure to Keep Clean Main Mission Saves

Unfortunately, most of the "fixes" for the bugs encountered in On the Edge are related to reloading an earlier save. However, based on testing, this does not always work due to some quest triggers occurring as you skirt the Lesser Zone during the events of Just Like the Good Old Days.

To make sure you have a chance to save Zalissya during your current playthrough, create a manual save immediately after the main mission, To the Last Drop of Blood. Do this as soon as you exit the MOLE facility under SIRCAA so that you have a clean save where Gaffer hasn't radioed that Zalissya is under attack.

Prioritize Finishing On the Edge Over Main Missions

Alternatively, you can book it toward Zalissya as soon as you finish To the Last Drop of Blood rather than working to complete Just Like the Good Old Days. By prioritizing this side mission, you'll have a chance to avoid the softlocks that occur when you arrive late and the Monolith are, seemingly, no longer attacking the town.
