STALKER 2 Heart of Chornobyl

Should You Kill Shah or Roosevelt?

Add to Watchlist

Stalker 2 Heart of Chornobyl Should You Kill Shah or Roosevelt
Killing Shah or Roosevelt is a choice you make during the King of the Hill main mission STALKER 2: Heart of Chornobyl. Read on to learn if you should kill Shah or Roosevelt and the consequences of each choice in this guide.

Warning: story related spoilers lie ahead.

Kill Shah or Roosevelt Choice Results

Affects Later Main Story Missions

Choice Effect
Kill Roosevelt Varan grants you access to Nestor and the attacker.
You lose access to the option for a peaceful resolution during the main story mission, Legends of the Zone.
Kill Shah Varan grants you access to Nestor and the attacker.
Locks you out of interacting with The Brood.
Kill Both Varan is impressed (changed dialogue) and grants you access to Nestor and the attacker.
You lose access to the option for a peaceful resolution during the main story mission, Legends of the Zone.

Varan will always grant you access to Nestor and his attacker during the Deal with the Devil so long as you kill Roosevelt, Shah, or both. However, Varan will still betray you after the fact so it is usually better to just kill him to avoid extra legwork.

Killing both Roosevelt and Shah will impress Varan but other than changed dialogue, it will play out the same as if you killed only one. Killing Shah, on the other hand, locks you out of interacting with The Brood since you'll need to kill everyone in the base to reach Shah.

Later on, killing Roosevelt will impact the Legends of the Zone main mission. Instead of being able to settle the issue of the stolen Decoder peacefully, you will be forced to attack the bandit hideout in order to get it for Sidorovich.

Should You Kill Shah or Roosevelt?

Killing Roosevelt Affects the Legends of the Zone Main Mission

Killing Roosevelt
Since killing Roosevelt or Shah is part of your agreement with Varan, the choice of killing Roosevelt will only make its consequences known once you reach the Legends of the Zone main mission.

If you spared Roosevelt, he will contact you during this mission and ask for a peaceful resolution regarding Sidorovich's stolen Decoder.

If Roosevelt is killed, you'll have to reclaim the Decoder the old-fashioned way; by killing all of the bandits in the nearby hideout and looting it off of one of their bodies.

Killing Shah Affects Relations with The Brood

Killing Shah
In order to kill Shah, you'll need to get through the guards of The Brood base in Garbage. However, this means you'll lose access to this location and the trader named Bruise, later on.

Killing Both Results in Changed Dialogue with Varan

Aside from the consequences listed previously, choosing to kill both Roosevelt and Shah will impress Varan.

However, this will not save you from being betrayed by the bandit leader later on in Deal with the Devil.

Kill Varan If You Do Not Want to Kill Shah and Roosevelt

You also have the option to kill Varan if you do not want to go through the King of the Hill main mission to kill either Shah or Roosevelt. Choose "[Attack] Or I could kill you?" from the dialogue options and kill him and his men.

This is the best option to take as you do not miss out on NPC interactions since there are side missions that have you interact with Shah and Roosevelt.
