A Minor Incident Assault on the Duga |
Happiness for Everyone |
List of Contents
In Seach of Past Glory automatically starts after acquiring the Electronic Collar during the mission, A Minor Incident. Taking the collar to Richter at the end of the mission and asking about the scientists will open the first objective.
Bring the collar to the Roofed Warehouse in the Chemical Plant area to continue. Go inside to find a door labeled with ДY-III-12 and press the button next to it. Enter the door once the professor has given your permission. You'll find him by immediately turning left at the end of the hallway.
If you already have an Electronic Collar with you—either from looting or from the collars that you didn't sell to Hamster during the Nightingale's Hunt—while doing the mission, A Minor Incident, you can skip having to find a collar for Dvupalov and complete the mission immediately.
Exit the room and go to the large empty room to the west of the building. Look to the northwest to spot steam coming out of a container and you'll find some 'magic' vodka next to it.
Bring the vodka back to the professor and start the conversation about the Controller Project. You can press him for info and ignore his offers but choosing the dialogue options that will have you drink a total of three shots of the vodka is mandatory to proceed.
Dialogue Choices to Drink | |
---|---|
1 | Here's to the start of our partnership! ・[Drink] To partnership. |
2 | Bottoms up, stalker. To science, to partnership, to whatever floats your boat. ・To science. ・[Drink] To partnership. |
3 | So, where were we? How about another one? ・Let's have another. |
4 | It was a promising project, sure... but it's time to bid it farewall. Bottoms up, stalker. ・Bottoms up, Professor. |
5 | Then we can talk for real. So, what do you say? You down for a few more drinks, or maybe just one for the road? ・Sure ・This is the last one. |
Return to where you found the vodka and take the stairs to your right. You'll find Dvupalov at the platform looking for the lab key card. Suddenly, an artifact will pop out of his space and you will be tasked to catch it.
The Crystal Thorn artifact is not that nimble and it is still easy to catch even with the vodka's effects. Drop down the area on your left and look for the glowing artifact hopping around. Wait for it to land, rush over to it, and quickly press the interact button to catch it. Take the artifact back to the professor and see if he already found the key card.
Dvupalov will let you have the Crystal Thorn. This artifact doesn't have any special effects, so you can sell it for 7500 Coupons or keep it for its sentimental value.
Bad news: someone else is holding the key card all along! That magic vodka must have tasted fantastic, at least. Shcherba is inside a building along the northern edge of the Chemical Plant area.
One of the other buildings houses a Poltergeist, so just focus on looking for the Doctorant if you're not looking for a fight. Enter the marked building through the door on its west wall and find Shcherba behind one of the screens. Ask about the key card to the X5 to proceed.
Exit the building and start walking towards the west side of Ahroprom until you find cylindrical structures the objective marker is pointing at. Climb down the hole in the middle to discover an underground area.
1 | Go down the stairs at the end of the tunnel and turn right from the stairs with a radioactive pool. Turn right again to find a room with some supplies. |
---|---|
2 | Keep heading west and you'll find a spiral staircase that leads to the labs. |
The path to Lab X5 is pretty linear but you'll encounter zombies and hordes of flesh-eating rats along the way.
Follow the objective marker until you reach a hole in a wall. Before you proceed, prepare a grenade to throw at the incoming wave of rats.
There's a second wave at the end of the room. You can hop onto one of the tables and throw a grenade from there to clear them out. Once it's safe, find a square hole in the south wall and turn right.
Go over the barricade and follow the rooms along this linear path until you end up at Lab X5's locked door. Use the key card from Shcherba to proceed.
As soon as you step foot in the lab, a Controller will attack you from a distance. This will instantly deal damage and cause visual impairment. Be sure to have enough Psi-protection from your gear or some Psi-blockers with you to avoid the Psi-radiation buildup.
The Controller will retreat after the attack, so you can ignore that for now and focus on getting to the lower level.
1 | Cross the bridge and turn right. Enter the room on your left, where the enemy was. |
---|---|
2 | Look for a red light on your left and drop down the hole on the ground below it. |
3 | Turn left and drop down the next hole. |
This objective actually only requires you to go down the spiral staircase you dropped down on, right in the middle of the room. Feel free to research the research lab for supplies and other miscellaneous items you may find.
You don't have to turn on gas pumps and a main breaker to start the generator this time. Simply go to the north side of the room where an electric anomaly is. Set it off with a bolt and quickly run past it to find the generator on the other side.
From the generator room, turn left to find a lit doorway and slowly walk towards it. Take out your weapon and prepare to blast the Snorks inside the room to clear a path.
Enter the room and turn right to find a larger room. Prof. Dvupalov's Records are on the table on the left side.
You can fulfill Shcherba's request by retrieving the papers he needs from the room on the other side! Search the middle shelf and grab the Controller Project Documents before you go.
Exit the room and go up the spiral staircase from earlier. Turn north, set off the electric anomaly with a bolt, and enter the hallway on the other side. Turn right and follow it to the end until you reach a room where the Controller is.
On your right is a gravity anomaly next to a ledge. Set it off and quickly run up the pillar and onto the ladder. Enter the control room on your left to complete the objective.
The Controller should be following you now, which is a good opportunity to take it out before you continue. Try hiding and shooting behind cover as it cannot use its powers if you're not within sight.
The Suppressor Blueprint is on the terminal along with a recorder, some Psi-Blocks, and the Control Room Key. Pick it up and be ready to find your way out.
If you obtained a Ward Badge during the Back to Slag Heap main mission, STC Malachite guards will start to flock the lab to try and get it from your corpse.
Unlock the nearby door with the key and go up the ladder in front of you. Turn right to find another ladder that leads to a pipe. Once you exit to a tunnel, the objective marker will guide you to a linear path filled with more Malachite guards and ends at the ground level.
Quickly run away from Ahroprom then southward to the Roofed Warehouse. Look who else is here, it's Shcherba! Talk to Dvupalov about the Suppressor to complete the objective. You can even get info about Faust from him.
Next is to find a kind Technician that will install the Suppressor to your equipment. Depending on your faction, you will be instructed to head to Rostok (if you're sided with the Spark Faction) or the Chemical Plant Base (if you're sided with the Ward Faction).
If you joined the Ward Faction, you must first get a permit from Col. Korshunov. You can find him in the Chemical Plant Base's north building. A cutscene will start upon entering the room where the Colonel is. When it's done, speak to him and he'll give you the permission for the Technician.
You'll notice that, after talking to either Technician, there is no special dialogue option for the Suppressor installment. That's because you'll have to open the Upgrade menu first to install the Suppressor!
The Suppressor is actually a helmet upgrade for a mask or suit of your choice. Open the Upgrades menu when talking to the Technician, select the mask or suit that you plan to wear during the fight against Faust, and check the upgrade with a "New!" label. Install the Suppressor to complete the mission!
As the upgraded helmet or outfit is crucial to the Faust fight, be sure not to discard or sell it, especially if you're going to switch to a different armor set later on.
