Rogier Questline and Location

Rogier can be found inside a small chapel in Stormveil Castle. He will be situated to the right of the altar. Players can easily find him after unlocking the Rampart Tower Site of Grace in the castle.

Rogier Questline

Searching for Something in the Castle

When you first speak to Rogier, he will say that he is looking for something specific in the castle. Exhaust his dialogue and he will sell you three Ashes of War.

Moving to Roundtable Hold

Seated at the balcony, through the corridor opposite the Two Finger room.

After you beat Godrick the Grafted, Rogier will move to the Roundtable Hold. You can find him seated on the balcony overlooking the area where you fight Mad Tongue Alberich.

Speaking to Rogier after he moves to the Roundtable Hold will have him give you Rogier's Rapier +8 for free. He will also still be available as an Ashes of War merchant.

Finding Rogier's Bloodstain in Stormveil Castle

In order prevent Rogier's untimely demise, players will need to complete a few steps. First, players must view his Bloodstain in the Stormveil Castle cellar. Rogier's Bloodstain should be to the right side of a large eldritch face, next to the corpse of a kneeling servant.

Warning: If players skip looking for Rogier's Bloodstain and then manage to speak to Ranni at Ranni's Rise in Liurnia of the Lakes, Rogier will fall asleep due to his illness and eventually die.

Jump Down to the Stormveil Castle Cellar

The easiest way to get to the cellar is by unlocking the western door of the Liftside Chamber. This allows players to get to the bottom safely.

Players who have not unlocked the door can access this area by jumping down the ledge to the right of the Liftside Chamber. Do note that this jump will always take away 60% of your total HP, regardless of how much Vigor you have.

Beat an Ulcerated Tree Spirit

While not really a boss like the one found in the Fringefolk Hero's Grave, the Ulcerated Tree Spirit in the cellar will need to be beaten in order to get the prompt for Rogier's questline.

While it is possible to run past it and not aggro it, simply viewing the Bloodstain without defeating the creature will not progress the quest.

Speak to Rogier at the Roundtable Hold

Once the boss is beaten and the Bloodstain is viewed, fast travel back to the Table of Lost Grace. Speak to Rogier and he will tell you about what he was researching when he went to Stormveil Castle.

As the conversation ends, Rogier will mention something about getting a Black Knifeprint. Once you obtain it, give it to Rogier and it should prevent his death for now.

Obtain a Dungeon Location Clue from Fia

Fia will give you a clue about the Knifeprint's location if you hug her after your conversation with Rogier. Select the Do you know...? dialogue option and she will give you a small map leading to the Black Knife Catacombs in Liurnia of the Lakes.

Defeat the Black Knife Assassin

To get the knife imprint, players will need to beat the Black Knife Assassin optional boss inside the Black Knife Catacombs. Players can summon D, Hunter of the Dead as a gold summon before entering, in order to make the fight easier.

Speak to Ranni About the Cursemark

Once you come back to Rogier with the Black Knifeprint, he will tell you that the Cursemark of Death is probably somewhere on Ranni's flesh. To find out where it actually is, speak to Ranni at Ranni's Rise in Liurnia.

Defeat Royal Knight Loretta and Unlock the Three Sisters

Ranni can only be spoken to once players unlock the Three Sisters area to the north of the Caria Manor. For players who have not yet unlocked this area, you will need to defeat Royal Knight Loretta to get there.

Speak to Ranni and Be Dismissed

Progressing Rogier's questline will force you to ask Ranni about the Cursemark as a conversation starter. If you do this, Ranni will inform you she does not have it and then lock you out of any more conversations after.

Note: This will not lock you out of the Ranni ending. To enter her service, players will only need to take an additional step to get her questline to proceed as normal.

Return to Rogier at the Roundtable Hold

Once Ranni dismisses you, return to Rogier. He will suggest that you enter Ranni's service to find out the location of the Cursemark. Exhaust this dialogue tree before returning to Ranni. If done correctly, the option to pledge allegiance to Ranni should be available again.

Sleep and Death

Sadly, Rogier's death is not preventable. If players progress Ranni's quest enough, Rogier will eventually warn you that he feels like he is about to fall into a deep sleep.

Once this happens, he will eventually die. Return to his spot at the Roundtable Hold until he dies and drops his Bell Bearing and the Spellblade's Armor Set.

Speak to Fia About Rogier

After Rogier tells you about his feeling of falling asleep, go to Fia and hug her to prompt a conversation. The option to talk about Rogier should pop up. Exhaust her dialogue to find out Rogier has been a constant visitor of the Deathbed Companion.

If players decided to tackle Fia's questline, they will eventually encounter her sitting before the Prince of Death's Throne in the Deeproot Depths.

Approaching the foot of the throne will prompt a series of boss battles between you and Fia's champions. One of these champions will be Rogier. This is his final appearance after he dies.

Lore and Trivia

Lore

• According to D, Hunter of the Dead, Rogier was a formidable spellblade in his prime. They fought together in their youth, exploring the different aspects of Death as they went along.
• Rogier eventually loses his Guidance of Grace. As a Tarnished, this leaves him without purpose. Eventually he parts ways with D and goes searching for something in Stormveil Castle.
• Later on, Rogier will reveal that he is in fact researching the specifics of the Shattering, starting with the assassination of Godwyn - the first Elden Lord. It was for this reason that he went to Stormveil Castle, as the deceased demi-god's face is that which haunts the cellar.

Trivia

• Speaking to Rogier after buying any of his Ashes of War will reveal that he has a fascination with Raya Lucaria and their adaptibility against the Golden Order's norms. This provides an inkling as to what Rogier really does after losing his Guidance of Grace.
