Greatblade Phalanx is a spell where one can summon three greatblades that floats around the caster and attack enemies as they get close enough. It will stay with the caster indefinitely, as long as it doesn't get activated or collide with any objects or structures.
Bols, Carian Knight is a giant sealed within the Cuckoo's Evergaol, west of the Liurnia of the Lakes region. The Cuckoo's Evergaol is located south of The Four Belfries site of grace and north of the Revenger's Shack. After Defeating Bols you will be rewarded with the Greatblade Phalanx.
How to Beat Bols, Carian Knight
Greatblade Phalanx is best used when you're not actively engaging with the enemy due to its slow casting time. Situations where you're at a safe distance away from your enemy or when they're distracted by your spirit ashes or friends are the best time to use it.
It's better to use Greatblade Phalanx in open areas as it's less likely that you will bump into a wall, and losing even one Greatblade can be a significant loss to your resources as it has such a high FP Cost.
Greatblade Phalanx is a good way for you to force your enemies to be careful when approaching you, as the spell will activate once they're close enough.
