This spell reduces the stamina consumption whenever you use a shield to block incoming enemy attacks. Although it says that it increases damage negation, values are not reflected whenever it's used so it may be currently bugged as of update 1.04.
The Scholar's Shield's effect lasts for 1 minute and can be cast while the caster is in motion.

When a shield is buffed with the Scholar's Shield spell it will decrease your stamina consumption whenever the buffed shield is used to block enemy attacks. However, the amount of boost it produces is not reflected in the shield's stats.
You can further increase your guarding ability by using the Greatshield Talisman as it will stack with the effect of the Scholar's Shield spell.
