Thops's Barrier is a spell that allows the caster to deflect enemy magic spells for a short time. Using this spell is similar to using a parry but for magic spells albeit slower and can be cast repeatedly.
After locating the second Glinstone Key in the Academy of Raya Lucaria, give it to Thops at the Church of Irith, north of Limgrave.
Leave him and warp to the Schoolhouse Classroom site of grace of the Academy of Raya Lucaria. Thops' body should be located near the west exit of that site of grace. Get his items and you should be able to obtain Thops' Barrier spell.
Thops's Barrier is best used when fighting against enemies using spells. It's also a good spell to use when you want to get close to enemy mages.
