Deck Explanation

Monster Cards

Marincess Blue Tang Marincess Sea Horse Marincess Springirl

These three Marincess monsters are the main starters as you would want at least one in your opening hand to initiate your combos.

Marincess Blue Tang, on Summon, lets you send one Marincess monster from your Deck to the Graveyard. It is recommended to send Sea Horse to the Graveyard to extend combos, but you can also send Basilalama for protection.

Marincess Sea Horse acts as the main extender of this Deck. As soon as you Link Summon a Marincess Monster, you can Special Summon Sea Horse to the Zone the Link monster is pointing to.

Marincess Springirl can banish a Marincess monster from your Graveyard to Special Summon herself, so she is often used with Marincess Great Bubble Reef.

Marincess Mandarin Marincess Basilalima Marincess Sleepy Maiden

For the Main Deck, these are the three situational Marincess monsters.

Marincess Mandarin, while not consistent, effectively extends this Deck's ability to Link Climb. Mandarin becomes active when you control 2 or more Marincess monsters, where you can then Special Summon her to a zone a Water Link Monster is pointing to from the Hand or Graveyard.

Marincess Basilalima is included to add another layer of protection for you Marincess Monsters. When Basilalima is in the Graveyard and a monster you control is destroyed by a card effect, you can banish this card instead.

Marincess Sleepy Maiden can extend combos since she can Special Summon herself if you control another Marincess monster. Most of the time, Sleepy Maiden is used for her Graveyard effect to equip another Marincess Link Monster to Aqua Argonaut.

Silent Sea Nettle

Silent Sea Nettle serves a variety of roles for this Water-based Deck. These roles are as follows:

  1. Extender: This card can be Special Summoned from hand if you control a Water monster.
  2. Enabler: Limits you to only Summon Water monsters, making Zealantis a free board wipe.
  3. Recycler: Banish this card from the Graveyard to target and shuffle back to the Deck three Water monsters from the Graveyard.
Ash Blossom & Joyous Spring Maxx "C"

As per usual, these two monsters are included staple hand traps to limit your opponent's actions. Maxx-C lets you draw a card every time your opponent Special Summons, while Ash Blossom negates any effect that searches a card from the Main Deck.

Spell Cards

Marincess Battle Ocean

Marincess Battle Ocean is an essential Field Spell for Marincess as it lets you equip your Marincess Link monsters from the Graveyard to Aqua Argonaut, acting as ammunition for her negate effect. As an additional effect, your Marincess monsters gain additional ATK.

Cynet Mining Pot of Desires

Cynet Mining lets you send one card from your hand to the Graveyard to add one Level 4 or lower Cyberse monster from your Deck to hand. Most optimally, you should send Basilalima to the Graveyard to search for Blue Tang.

Pot of Desires simply banishes ten cards from the top of your Deck to draw two cards.

Triple Tactics Thrust Triple Tactics Talent

If your opponent activates a monster effect during your turn, you can use Triple Tactics Thrust to search for a Marincess Dive to extend combos or Triple Tactics Talent to resolve either of the 3 effects:

  • Draw 2 Cards
  • Take control of 1 of your opponent's monsters until the End Phase
  • Look at your opponent's hand, and choose 1 card to shuffle back in the Deck

It is recommended to take control of an opponent's monster to use as Link Material for Zealantis. Otherwise, it is best to draw 2 cards.

Book of Moon
Book of Moon can answer the opponent's monster floodgates by setting them face-down. Book of Moon also lets you search more safely since you can dodge an opponent's interruption by setting your cards face-down.

Called by the Grave
Called by the Grave acts as a standard handtrap for countering other handtraps such as Maxx-C and Ash Blossom to continue your Link Climb. Furthermore, it counters Graveyard-reliant decks when it is set during your turn.

Trap Cards

Infinite Impermanence
Infinite Impermanence is a classic hand trap for its ability to negate a monster effect on the field until the end of the turn if your field is empty. If this card is set beforehand, there is a chance that you can negate a Spell/Trap activated in the column this card is activated.

Marincess Wave
Marincess Wave can negate a monster's effects until the end of the turn if you control a Marincess Link monster. There are added effects depending on the Link monster on the field:

  • Link-2 or higher: On activation, all face-up monsters you control are unaffected by your opponent's card effects until the end of the turn.
  • Link-3 or higher: You can activate this card from your hand, turning this card into a hand trap

Gozen Match
Gozen Match lets each player control only one monster attribute. Since this Deck hosts only Water monsters, only your opponent is debilitated.

This card becomes even more potent if Stealth Kragen is active on the field, letting the opponent Summon only one monster on the field.

Extra Deck Monsters

Marincess Blue Slug Marincess Sea Angel

These are the Link-1 Marincess Monsters who are responsible for starting combos. Always remember the quote "Blue on Blue, Sea on Sea."

Marincess Blue Slug, if Link Summoned, lets you target and add to your hand a Marincess monster from the Graveyard. Link Summoned mainly through Blue Tang.

Marincess Sea Angel, if Link Summoned, lets you add 1 Marincess Spell from your Deck to hand. Link Summoned mainly through these two monsters:

  • Marincess Sea Horse: Add Marincess Battle Ocean to extend into the Aqua Argonaut combo.
  • Marincess Springirl: Add Marincess Dive to extend into the Great Bubble Reef combo.
Splash Mage Marincess Coral Anemone Marincess Crystal Heart

These are the Link-2 Marincess Monsters, key pieces to every Marincess combo.

Splash Mage lets you target and Special Summon one Cyberse monster from your Graveyard. However, you will be limited to only Cyberse monsters, locking out Zealantis, Kragen, and Abyss Dweller.

Marincess Coral Anemone lets you target and Special Summon one Water monster with 1500 or less ATK from your Graveyard. Also, when she is sent to the Graveyard, you can target and send one Marincess card from the Graveyard to your hand.

Marincess Crystal Heart acts as a fail-safe, as when this card or a monster this card is linked to is attacked, you can send one Marincess monster from your hand to the Graveyard to prevent battle destruction and damage.

Marincess Coral Triangle Marincess Marbled Rock

These are the Link-3 Marincess Monsters, both having the niche situation they can fill before being Linked to either Argonaut or Bubble Reef.

Marincess Coral Triangle lets you discard a Water monster from your hand to add one Marincess Trap from your Deck to your hand; setting up a Marincess Wave for the next turn.

As a countermeasure, if only your opponent controls a monster, you can banish this card to Special Summon Water Link monsters from your Graveyard whose combined Link Rating is 3.

Marincess Marbled Rock serves as protection since she can make the monsters you control indestructible. You also do not take battle damage for the rest of the turn. As another effect, Marbled Rock lets you recycle a Marincess card from the Graveyard by adding it back to your hand.

Marincess Aqua Argonaut Marincess Great Bubble Reef

These are the Link-4 Marincess Monsters to make up the end-board.

Marincess Aqua Argonaut possesses a Quick Effect field negate, where you can Special Summon one of your Marincess monsters equipped to this card to negate an effect activated on the field.

Argonaut can also bounce an opponent's card from the field by returning a Marincess monster you control to your hand.

Marincess Great Bubble Reef, while not that strong of a card, can net you card advantage by being able to banish a Water monster from the Graveyard to draw one card.

Worldsea Dragon Zealantis

Worldsea Dragon Zealantis is essentially a free board-wide Banish. Zealantis can Banish all monsters on the field, then Special Summon as many monsters as possible for you, which are only Water monsters.

As an additional effect, you can destroy cards on the field as a Quick Effect during the Battle Phase up to the number of co-linked monsters.

Abyss Dweller Number 4: Stealth Kragen

These are the situational Rank 4 Xyz Summons to cover specific match-ups.

Number 4: Stealth Kragen is to cover Attribute-based Decks by turning all monsters in the field into Water monsters. Kragen can also end games using its Quick Effect to destroy a Water monster to inflict LP damage.

Abyss Dweller covers Graveyard-based Decks by disabling all effects activated from the Graveyard.

Boss Monsters

Marincess Aqua Argonaut
Marincess Aqua Argonaut Marincess Aqua Argonaut is the main boss monster this Deck brings out as she serves as both a field negate and non-targeted removal. For her field negate, she can Special Summon an equipped Marincess monster to negate an effect on the field, which she can also return to hand to bounce an opponent's card from the field.
Worldsea Dragon Zealantis
Worldsea Dragon Zealantis Worldsea Dragon Zealantis is the duel ender for this Deck as it is essentially a free board-wipe on Summon. Since this Deck has cards that will limit you to Special Summon only Water Monsters, this applies to his Banish effect so you cannot Special Summon back the opponent's cards unless they are of the Water attribute.
Number 4: Stealth Kragen
Number 4: Stealth Kragen Number 4: Stealth Kragen is the answer for Decks that rely on the use of their Attributes. Kragen makes every monster on the field a Water monster. When Kragen is used with Gozen Match, the opponent is essentially locked out from Summoning after their first summon.
Abyss Dweller
Abyss Dweller Abyss Dweller, initially, buffs all of our Water monsters if he is attached to materials. However, its true strength comes from its Quick Effect, wherein your opponent cannot activate any effects from the Graveyard; effectively shutting down Graveyard-based Decks.

Marincess Counters: How to Beat

Best Decks to Use Against Marincess

Kashtira

Master Duel - Kashtira

A Kashtira Deck can lock out zones connected to the Extra Monster Zone and banish cards from the Main Deck. Since Marincess is reliant on Summoning monsters on zones where their Link monsters point, Kashtira is considered a natural counter.

Kashtira Deck List & Card Guide

Swordsoul

Master Duel - Tenyi Swordsoul

Swordsoul revolves around easily removing cards from your Field through Banishment. Most of Marincess' interruptions revolve around their Field spell, and the moment Swordsoul banishes your Field Spell you are most likely snuffed out.

Swordsoul Deck List and Card Guide

Best Cards to Tech Against Marincess

Dimension Shifter
Dimension Shifter This Deck's combos revolve around sending your Marincess monsters to the Graveyard. Dimension Shifter, when its effect resolves, will banish any card that was supposed to go to the Graveyard, effectively stopping you from setting up interruptions.
Necrovalley
Ghost Ogre & Snow Rabbit Ghost Ogre & Snow Rabbit lets you destroy a card as a Quick Effect when they activate their card on the field. With this card, your field spell is vulnerable the moment you activate its effect, neutering most of your interruptions.
Dark Ruler no More
Dark Ruler No More A Marincess Deck's interruptions solely rely on their monster effects which Dark Ruler no More bypasses by not letting them respond with monster effects. After resolving, your monster effects are negated which leaves you with little to no interruptions.
Summon Limit
Summon Limit The Marincess Archetype is known for its extended plays and summons, and Summon Limit silences those claims. When this card is active on the field, you are limited to only two Summons, which entails you are only able to Link Summon until Blue Slug or Sea Angel.
