8-Axis Gizmek Orochi is an Aggro deck in Yu-Gi-Oh Master Duel. The deck is built around cards that are much better suited being played while going Second in a Duel. Check out the core deck list, key combos, as well as how to play & counters!

Revolves around Summoning multiple Level 8 monsters Flexibility around Xyz and Synchro Summons Massive OTK potential through Numeron Dragon
|
The reason why it is called 8-Axis is due to the sheer number of Level 8 Monsters in the Deck that can be easily summoned onto the field. They are already powerful in their own right, but they can also be used as materials for Synchro Summons, or Rank 8 Xyz Summons, depending on the situation.
The titular card, Gizmek Orochi, the Serpentron Sky Slasher, can be a very pesky monster to get rid of. Banishing 8 cards from the top of your Deck to Special Summon it either from the hand or the GY makes it relatively easy to summon. Due to it being a Quick Effect, it can also be used during the opponent's turn.
All of the Level 8 monsters are easily summonable from the hand, depending on the circumstances. With the right timing, all of them are possible to be summoned in a single turn--provided things go your way.
Alpha, the Master of Beasts can be summoned if your opponent has more accumulative ATK on their side of the field compared to yours, while Danger! Bigfoot! relies on discarding a random card other than itself to Special Summon itself from the hand. If not, it's discarded, and it gets to destroy a card on the field for free.
By destroying a monster you control and another card on either side of the field, Sauge de Fleur can be Special Summoned.
Meanwhile, the Kaijus can be used to get rid of monsters from the opponent's side without triggering effects on destruction. Just remember--Gameciel, the Sea Turtle Kaiju should be on the opponent's field, and Dogoran, the Mad Flame Kaiju is on your side.
The rest of the non-hand traps are meant to completement the Level 8 monsters on the field, either through control over the field or providing an additional chance to boost your field.
For example, Fairy Tail - Luna can search out what is essentially a copy of itself when Normal Summoned, then it can bounce a monster the opponent controls back to the hand if they don't send a monster with the same name from the Deck or Extra Deck to the GY. This works especially well with your Kaiju monsters.
Dinowrestler Pankratops can be the first thing you Summon before anything else, as a quick way to destroy a card the opponent controls. It also helps that it's got impressive ATK as a Level 7 monster.
Blackwing - Sharnga the Waning Moon is one of the Deck's options to Synchro Summon. It can be Special Summoned from the hand if you control a monster with 2000 ATK or more.
The rest of the cards are, as mentioned, hand traps that are added to give the opponent as much trouble as possible.
Introductions are not needed for Ash Blossom & Joyous Spring and Maxx "C", which are two cards being borderline mandatory in the current meta of Master Duel.
Effect Veiler can deal with any monster that tries to activate its effect while on the field. PSY-Framegear Gamma can do the same, and be a counter as well to Monster Card hand traps; if successfully activated, it can summon itself and PSY-Frame Driver onto the field, and if it's your turn when Gamma was activated, that's an easy Synchro Summon for you.
The Bystials deal with the plethora of LIGHT and DARK mosnters that are prevalent in the current meta. You can use your own monsters to Summon them, but for the most part it's an effective way to banish cards that have GY effect before they can be triggered.
Each Level 6 Bystial has its purpose. Bystial Magnamhut is the main searcher, Bystial Druiswurm takes out a card from the field if it ever leaves the field itself, and Bystial Baldrake can banish a Ritual, Fusion, Synchro, Xyz or Link Monster the moment they are summoned, just by tributing a LIGHT or DARK monster of your own.
The Bystial Alba Los is the last resort card of the archetype, needing two "Bystial" monsters as tribute. If successfully summoned, Ritual, Fusion, Synchro, Xyz or Link Monsters have their effects negated while this card is face-up and active. If the opponent makes it leave the field via card effect, both players' Extra Decks are banished until the opponent's End Phase.
Decks that usually run Sekka's Light only run two copies of this Spell Card, and that's it. One of the requirements is that there should be no Spells nor Traps in your GY. After activation, you can't activate any other Spell or Trap other than Sekka's Light for the rest of the Duel.
It also has a GY effect wherein after banishing, you can shuffle a monster from the hand back to the Deck, then draw a card. This is a good way to avoid any bricks, and get you to draw better cards.
While Synchro Summon monsters are valid in this Deck, these two Level 8 options stand out the most. Crimson Blader can deny the opponent the chance to Special Summon powerful monsters in their next turn if this card can destroy a monster by battle, while PSY-Framelord Omega banishes a card from the opponent's hand.
For Level 10 monsters, three monsters come to mind: Baronne de Fleur with its omni-negate and card destruction effect, Blackwing Full Armor Master being immune to every other card on the field, and Swordsoul Supreme Sovereign - Chengying gets stronger for every card that is banished from both players.
Psychic End Punisher gets stronger the lower your LP is, and it can make it lower while banishing monsters once per turn.
Rank 8 Xyz Monsters have multiple options too, but lok for monsters that hope to disrupt the opponent, or go for the kill as soon as possible. For example, Number 38: Hope Harbinger Dragon Titanic Galaxy negates Spell Cards and absorbs them as material into this Xyz Monster.
Dingirsu, the Orcust of the Evening Star banishes cards whenever it's Special Summoned, and can detach materials whenever it's supposed to be destroyed by battle or card effect.
The Zombie Vampire can only be targeted for effects by monsters that were Special Summoned from the GY. It can mill 4 cards from the top of both player's Decks, and Special Summons a monster if one was sent to the GY there.
For a more offensive option, Number 97: Draglubion is often used as an OTK option, and the easiest way to Special Summon Number 100: Numeron Dragon. The latter's ATK depends on the number of Ranks in total of all Xyz Monsters on the field--anything above 8 Ranks is enough for an OTK attack.
Running Rank 10 Xyz Monsters provides a chance to Rank Up into Number 84: Pain Gainer, which deals effect damage every time the opponent's Spell or Trap Card resolves, and Number 77: The Seven Sins, who can banish every Special Summoned mosnter the opponent controlls in one fell swoop.
Divine Aresnal AA-ZEUS - Sky Thunder can clear the field on its own as a Quick Effect. Depending on how many materials does it have, it can do it more than once per turn. Make sure to use an Xyz Monster with lots of materials to summon this boss monster.
This is a relatively simple combo that gets rid of a monster the opponent controls safely, while retriving the monster that replaced it back to your hand.
You need to have all three cards on hand, as well as a monster on the opponent's side of the field to allow this combo to happen.
Card(s) Needed | |
---|---|
Step | Description |
1 | Tribute 1 Monster the opponent controls; Special Summon Gamecial, the Sea Turtle Kaiju on their side of the field in Attack Position. |
2 | Because there is a Kaiju monster on the opponent's field, you can now Special Summon Dogoran, the Mad Flame Kaiju. |
3 | Normal Summon Fairy Tail - Luna. Upon being Normal Summoned, activate its effect to search out a monster with 1850 ATK to add from Deck to hand--a second copy of Fairy Tail - Luna. |
4 | Activate the second effect of Fairy Tail - Luna; target the Gameciel, the Sea Turtle Kaiju that was on the opponent's side of the field. The opponent is now forced to send a card with the same name from their Deck to the GY, should they have one in their Deck. |
5 | If the opponent does not have a copy of Gameciel, the Sea Turtle Kaiju in their Deck, the effect resolves; both Fairy Tail - Luna and Gameciel returns to your hand, as the latter originally belongs to you. |
The interesting thing about this Deck is that Boss Monsters can come from both the Main Deck and the Extra Deck. For a Deck that usually goes second, it does not shy away from using extremely strong monsters.
Runick Decks can easily pick apart an 8-Axis Deck with its plethora of Quick-Play Spells. It can constantly refresh its hand, and can disrupt plays on multiple occasions.

Because of how Floowandereeze can Normal Summon through most combos, 8-Axis players might have some trouble playing against this Deck. More so once its boss monster Floowandereeze & Empen hits the field in Attack Position.

This Xyz-Centric Deck punishes players who try to move cards out of the Graveyard, regardless of reason. It locks down plays from the GY, and banishes cards left and right to stop the opponent from playing the game. Exosisters will be dangerous if it has enough cards to counter Gizmek Orochi.
