How to Beat Commander Jupiter

KO Zubat with an Electric-type Move

If you managed to catch yourself a Shinx early in the game, it should have evolved into Luxio by the time you reach this battle. Luxio's Thunder Shock or Spark should easily take out Commander Jupiter's Zubat.

Beat Skuntank by Outnumbering It

After defeating Zubat, you may choose to keep Luxio active for the rest of the battle. Either way, Commander Jupiter's signature Pokemon, Skuntank will not be able to beat a team with a numbers advantage despite the HP recovery it has with Sitrus Berry.

A Pokemon with a Ground-type move would also be really good in this battle. This would be a great match for Gible if you managed to get one from the Wayward Cave. It learns Bulldoze at level 18, which would be very useful against Skuntank.

Pokemon BDSP LuxioLuxio Pokemon BDSP GyaradosGyarados Pokemon BDSP GabiteGabite

Luxio's Thunder Shock or Spark can easily KO Jupiter's Zubat. Commander Jupiter's Zubat will also fail to deal meaningful damage to Luxio, allowing us to keep it in the active position should we choose.

Gabite (If you have already evolved your Gible at this point.) is a great Pokemon for closing out the game against Skuntank.

Whittling down Skuntank's health with our lower leveled Pokemon, while having a higher-leveled Pokemon like Gyarados ready at the back should help us defeat Commander Jupiter.

When Starting with Chimchar

Again, Luxio's Thunder Shock or Spark will prove useful against Jupiter's Zubat. Zubat will also fail to deal meaningful damage to Luxio, allowing us to keep Luxio in the active position should we choose.

Our Monferno at this point should be at a higher level than Jupiter's Skuntank. Its usual Fire-type STAB moves can wear down the opposing Skuntank and eventually knock it out. Remember that Skuntank will be holding a Sitrus Berry, so expect to take a few turns to knock it out.

We would ideally have our Gible or Gabite out against Jupiter's Skuntank, which it can easily KO with its STAB Bulldoze.

When Starting with Piplup

Pokemon BDSP LuxioLuxio Pokemon BDSP GabiteGabite Pokemon BDSP PrinplupPrinplup

Luxio once again makes an appearance. Its Thunder Shock and Spark attacks can easily pick off Jupiter's Zubat.

Gible or Gabite's Bulldoze can deal big damage to Skuntank while resisting most of its moves.
A sufficiently leveled Prinplup at the back of the team can finish off Skuntank should Gabite fail to do the job.
