Magmar will evolve into Magmortar by trading it to another player while it is holding Magmarizer.

Have your Magmar hold Magmarizer and trade it with a friend to evolve it into Magmortar. We recommend doing this with someone you trust as your partner will need to trade the Pokemon back to you once it evolves.

Increase Chances by using a Pokemon with Super Luck

We recommend bringing a Pokemon such as Absol, with the Super Luck Ability which increases the chance for Wild Pokemon to have a held item. Absol can also learn the move Thief to take the item from the opponent without the need of catching it. Just make sure Absol isn't holding any items beforehand.

Wild Magbys can be found in the Grand Underground. There's a chance that some of them are holding a Magmarizer. Magby is a rare Pokemon that can be found in hideways such as the Volcanic Cave and Sandsear Cave and is a Shining Pearl version exclusive.
