The trick is to start digging right after person starts digging and finish before them. Dont worry about the treasure, just get your hammer and start pounding away. I dont know how many times ive tried but when i did this, mission completed
i am wondering if this has to do with having a trial nintendo online rather than the full
so i think i figured out what is problem but no idea how to solve it. i saw on youtube that you will see their hammer on your screen, but that is not happening to me no matter when or how i do it.

So I found if you push R for the radar before you dig he will expect it.
can anyone better explain what they are doing for the final underground man mission? Going by what everyone says, i have done it 14 times so far. He still won't accept, i even got there literally the second someone started and he still won't accept it. Do you need a certain badge first, does it have to do with the region of the person, etc.
You need to go digging next to someone else in the underground :) connect to the internet under there, find someone else digging and you will see shining lights on the wall next to them.
