How to Beat Gardenia's Rematch Team

Take Advantage of Sunny Day

BDSP - Gardenia Rematch Sunny Day

Most of the Pokemon in Gardenia's team will have the move Sunny Day to set up the field for single turn Solar Beams. You can also take advantage of this as well by using Sunny Day to power-up your Fire type moves. You could even bring a Pokemon with the Solar Power ability to further increase your damage.

Watch Out for Stone Edge and Earthquake

BDSP - Gardenia Rematch Torterra uses Stone Edge

After sending out a Fire or Flying Type to deal with Gardenia's Pokemon, she will likely bring out Torterra as a good counter with both Stone Edge and Earthquake. Fortunately, Torterra is rather slow, so you can take it out in a single turn with a powered-up Fire type move.

Inflict a Status Condition on Breloom

BDSP - Gardenia Rematch Paralyze Breloom

Breloom holds a Toxic Orb and has the ability Posion Heal, which will let it regain some of its health after every turn. Its moveset could also stall your Pokemon with repeated substitutes until you run out of health with Leech Seed.

To prevent this, you can inflict a status condition on Breloom such a paralysis or burn on the first turn. This will disable the Toxic Orb and prevent Breloom from regaining extra health.

Cherrim Holds a Focus Sash

BDSP - Gardenia Rematch Cherrim

Gardenia's Cherrim will be holding a Focus Sash during the battle, so it cannot be taken down in a singe hit. Chip at its health with a weaker move before taking it out with a strong Fire or Flying type attack.

Roserade Can Use Its Power Herb

BDSP - Gardenia Rematch Roserade

Even when you get rid of the sunny weather, Roserade will still be able to unleash one single turn Solar Beam with the Power Herb. Roserade also has the move Grassy Terrain which will increase the power of Solar Beam. Bring out a Pokemon that can surely take the hit.
