You can obtain Defog (TM97) from an Ace Trainer on the right after entering the Great Marsh in Pastoria City. You need to get out of your way to get this TM, so be sure to look for the Ace Trainer to obtain the item!
Getting the 4th Badge: Walkthrough Part 4
Defog is also available from the Sphere Trader who exchanges items in the Grand Underground. Note that even if you have the item, you cannot use it as a Hidden Move unless you have obtained the 4th Gym Badge from Crasher Wake.
This TM can be purchased at the Exchange Service Corner in the Battle Park during the post game for 32 Battle Points.
Before you can use Defog, you'll need to defeat Crasher Wake at the Pastoria City Gym first. He specializes in Water Pokemon. We recommend having an Electric type Pokemon like Luxray and a Grass type Pokemon like Roserade in your team before fighting Crasher Wake.
To use Defog, press the R button to open Poketch. If the Poketch app does not appear in the upper right corner of the screen, press the R button twice. If a small screen is displayed, press the R button once to enlarge it.
Once the Poketch app is displayed, press the red button to switch to the Hidden Moves screen and select Defog from the menu.
Defog is required to access the northern side of Route 210 leading to Celestic Town. You can proceed without using it, but it is recommended to return to Great Marsh to pick it up from the Ace Trainer.
You also need to use Defog in Mt. Coronet to reach Snowpoint City. When you enter the cave and go down on the first set of stairs, the screen will turn white. Use Defog from the Poketch app to remove the fog.
Defog is also required to access Route 224 after entering the Hall of Fame. Keep in mind that this is the route that allows you to access the Flower Paradise and catch Shaymin.
