How to Beat Crasher Wake

Bring a Grass-Type and an Electric Type

Water-types can be surprisingly bulky if you don't have the right Pokemon to deal with them. Crasher Wake's case is a bit more tricky since his team has very few type weaknesses. On this note, we recommend bringing an Electric Type such as Luxray and a Grass Type such as Roselia/Roserade to deal with his Gyarados and Quagsire respectively.

Water Moves are viable against Quagsire

Although Quagsires typically have Water Absorb, Crasher Wake's Quagsire actually has the Damp ability. This takes away its water immunity and instead is affected normally by it. Although not the best strategy, this means you can bring in a Pokemon like Gyarados with a hard hitting water-type move such as Waterfall and still do a good chunk of damage against it. You might even be able to use it's rain against it.

Best Team to Beat Crasher Wake

When Starting with Turtwig

Best Team to Beat Crasher Wake When Starting With Turtwig
Pokemon BDSP LuxrayLuxray Pokemon BDSP TorterraTorterra Pokemon BDSP GyaradosGyarados

For all the teams, we recommend leading with Luxray. Any of its Electric-type moves will deal signifcant damage to Crasher Wake's Gyarados. Players who start with Turtwig should have a Torterra by this point that can do quick work of Quagsire as well.

It may be best to switch back to Luxray to deal with Crasher Wake's Floatzel since it's Ice Fang can catch Torterra off guard. If your Luxray has Intimidate it will also help soften the blow from Floatzel's attacks.

When Starting with Chimchar

Pokemon BDSP LuxrayLuxray Pokemon BDSP RoseradeRoserade Pokemon BDSP GyaradosGyarados

As mentioned above, we recommend leading with Luxray. Any of its Electric-type moves will deal signifcant damage to Crasher Wake's Gyarados. As for Quagsire, Roserade is one of the best Grass-types available to deal x4 super-effective damage.

It may be best to switch back to Luxray to deal with Crasher Wake's Floatzel since it's Ice Fang can also catch Roserade off guard. If your Luxray has Intimidate it will also help soften the blow from Floatzel's attacks.

When Starting with Piplup

Luxray really is the most reliable electric-type lead you can have at this point .
