Just found out today that you can get this scene by having only 4 stars (Gold) trainer card, and she'll be just as impressed. Sad to know that when I get that Black Card, it won't come with anything new.
This was likely just coincidence. As others have pointed out, having 100 different Underground statues gets the other star. I have said star but don't yet have all the apps.
Can confirm 100 different statues is the replacement for 50 flags. I checked my card and 99 and then at 100 and it shifted from bronze to silver.
I think capturing 50 flags was replaced by finding 100 statue variants. I was checking my trainer card after going on a long digging session and I saw I had another star (first was beating elite 4). The only thing that changed was statues found and digging sessions. I had 1 star at 98 statues/271 digging sessions. When I saw I had 2 stars I was at 106 statue variants/296 fossil digging sessions
The obtain 50 flags in the Underground Trainer Star is replaced with the objective of obtaining all 20 Poketch apps, I found this out by accident by just finding all the ones I had missed on my playthrough and checking my Trainer Card to see how much money I had in game.
