This build makes use of Greatsword and Sword weapons to create a high-crowd control and high-durability melee tank or frontliner. It's purpose is to tank as much of the opponent's damage while providing crowd control and buffs for the party.

Prioritize improving Strength first to maximize durability, then Perception for CC and buff enhancements.

Active Skills Explantion

DaVinci's Courage, Counter Barrier, Stalwart Bastion, and Immortal Pride (Blessing of Immortality) are the build's tanking skills as they increase HP, Health Regen, Shield Block Chance, Damage Reduction, and grants a hefty shield. In particular DaVinci's Courage and Stalwart Bastion also affects allies.

Stunning Blow, Strategic Rush, and Chain Hook provides a variety of crowd control skills. They're mainly used to control the battle and allow the other party members to follow up with their own skills.

Valiant Brawl, Willbreaker, Shield Strike (Piercing Attack), and Guillotine Blade are the build's primary damage skills. In particular, Willbreaker and Shield Strike (Piercing Attack) inflicts Weaken to opponents, decreasing both their defenses and hit.

Focus on leveling up DaVinci's Courage and Stalwart Bastion since they affect the entire party when used. The rest can be prioritized based on preference.

Passive Skills Explanation

Robust Constitution, Impenetrable, and Indomitable Armor are the key passives for the build since they improve durability.

Vital Force provides some damage and works well with the build's high HP as its effect depends on Max Health.

Skillful Evasion increases Magic and Ranged evasion and is directly linked to Gerad's Patience and Resilient Mind since they trigger upon evasion. These three makes it even harder for opponents to deal damage.

Focus on leveling up Vital Force and Robust Constitution first as they provide a good balance of durability and damage, then go for Indomitable Armor and Impenetrable. The rest can be prioritized based on preference.

Duke Magna's Provoking Warblade provides Strength and Max Health, which is perfect for the build. It also has Duke Magna's Taunt that gives a chance to inflict Provoke on enemies hit by Valiant Brawl, giving the build more crowd control.

Traits and resonance all focus on improving durability via HP.

Best Armors and Accessories

The armors and accessories selected all have the best Melee, Range, and Magic Defenses. Their traits and resonance focus primarily on maxing out HP and endurance for a high-durability build.

In particular, having Shock Commander Plate Armor and Shock Commander Greaves together gives an additional Damage Reduction, further improving the build's durability.

For Greatsword, putting 9 points to Charge gives you durability, resistances, and a bit of cooldown speed and buff duration. Meanwhile, having 6 points to Incapacitate provides damage, stun duration, and mana regen.

For Sword, putting 9 points to Provoke & Counter provides more durability and survivability with a little buff duration. Meanwhile, having 6 points to Collision further adds durability.

How to Play Greatsword / Sword and Shield Build
Hook-Stun Setup Party Sustain Skill Rotation

Hook-Stun Setup

This is primarily a single-target CC combo that's effective in setting up kills for the party. Chain Hook will pull an enemy close to melee range, which then allows Willbreaker to hit and Stunning Blow to stun the target.

Using Guillotine Blade after Stunning Blow increases its damage via Stunning Blow's Additional Damage Boost specialization, dealing massive damage, although, it's entirely optional. Valiant Brawl or Shield Strike (Piercing Attack) can also be used after Stunning Blow as an alternative.

Party Sustain Skill Rotation

This skill rotation is for sustaining the party. Starting with DaVinci's Courage will instantly heal the party, and increase their health regen and attack speed. Following up with Stalwart Bastion provides the party with durability via damage reduction while Blessing of Immortality generates a shield that's based on max HP for them. Finally, Devoted Sanctuary offers more tanking for the party.
