Switching between your main-hand and off-hand weapon is a basic combat tactic in Throne and Liberty (TL). See the advantages of switching between your weapons in the guide below.
List of Contents
It may seem counter-intuitive to your playstyle to change weapons, but there are scenarios wherein switching weapons is the tactical move. Some weapons offer a larger AoE with their skills that could help you clear out more monsters. While others offer more concentrated damage against singular enemies.
At best it is recommended to have two types of weapons equipped: one for short-range, and another for long-range. However there is no inherent disadvantage to never switching your weapon at all.
Short Range | Long Range |
---|---|
・Higher DPS Output ・Better for 1v1 Fights ・Beginner-Friendly |
・Better maneuverability ・Wider AoE ・Easier Crowd Control |
The main idea of switching between weapons is to be as versatile in combat as possible. Having short ranged weapons like greatswords and daggers are best for tanky opponents, while long ranged weapons such as crossbows and staves help you maneuver more in combat.
Having two different kinds of weapons equipped will allow you to gain Weapon Mastery EXP for both weapons. However, using up those Mastery Points and alloting them to certain nodes, will be a waste if you never actually use the weapon that grants the buffs.
How to Get Weapon Mastery Points
Whether you play on mouse and keyboard or a controller, swapping weapons is as easy as a press of a button. Knowing when to swap weapons can help you assess combat situations and plan further actions.
