Throne and Liberty (TL) sets itself apart from other MMOs with Guild-centered content and a variety of unique in-game mechanics. Keep reading to learn more about its unique Guild Content, Weapon System, dynamic PvE content, Transformations, and Dynamic Environments.
List of Contents
Throne and Liberty's biggest difference from other MMOs is its focus on mass PvP content for much of its endgame content, which requires you to join Guilds so that you may be eligible for any rewards from participating in most of the server-wide content.
The pinnacle of this is Castle Siege, a competition for one Guild to seize, or successfully defend, the throne of Stoneguard Castle against multiple other Guilds for 45 minutes. Guilds will have to contend with multiple attack paths, unique Golem transformations, chaotic skirmishes, and more to eventually seize the rewards.
Conquest Battles are 30-minute fights to accumulate control points over certain Stones that offer a variety of benefits and opportunities. There are two types of Stones that Guilds conduct Conquests over: Boonstones and Riftstones.
Boonstone Battles are battles to successfully capture and hold the Boonstone in the specific hunting grounds. Whoever holds the Boonstone at the end of the 30-minute period receives EXP and item drops determined by the total amount of time they held on to the Boonstone.
Riftstone Battles have slightly different capture conditions from Boonstone Battles, as a Guild must either fill their capture gauge or have the most members inside of the capture zone at the end of the Battle.
The winning Guild of a Riftstone Battle will own access to an exclusive Field Boss arena where they alone can challenge the Field Boss for rewards and drops.
Instead of choosing a class and sticking with it for a character's entire leveling process, Throne and Liberty uses a dual-wield Weapon system where you have both a main hand and off-hand weapon and these weapons are what determine your Active and Passive Skills.
This allows more flexibility with your playstyle and the archetype you're trying to create with your character, as you can freely switch the weapons you use at any time.
Despite the flexibility of switching weapons, it's still best to figure out the weapon combination you want to stick with early so that you can take advantage of Weapon Mastery, a system that rewards you with new weapon effects once you have used a certain weapon long enough.
There are a variety of open-world Field Events scheduled throughout the week that anyone within the Events' respective Regions can join. You can obtain Ranking Rewards for scoreboard placement, Performance Rewards for participation, Lucky Rewards for randomized selections for bonuses, and Co-Op Event Rewards for your attained Co-Op Tier.
These Events can be classified as: Peace Events where players cannot fight each other, Co-Op Events where random players can help each other to increase their reward tiers, Dominion Events with randomized teams for team and individual ranking rewards, or Guild Events in Conflict Zones for Guild versus Guild contests.
Throne and Liberty puts a spin on the dungeon raid experience with PvPvE Dungeons. In these dungeons, as you fight your way to the Dungeon Boss, you might also find yourself fighting other players, creating more dynamic experiences that require you to be adaptable to any unforeseen skirmishes or circumstances.
Traversing the open-world is made faster in Throne and Liberty with the different Morphs available to the players. These consist of transformations into creatures for Dashing, Gliding, and Swimming.
There are various alternate forms per Morph that you can earn or purchase, purely for cosmetic purposes.
To infiltrate enemy ranks or even mess with other players, you are also able to gain the ability to shapeshift into enemy mobs. These enemy forms are typically earned as quest rewards through either Adventure or Exploration quests.
After completing Chapter 5 in the Main Story, you unlock the Guardians menu and are able to temporarily transform into defeat bosses. These forms are different from the typical enemy shapeshifts, as you are able to actively fight in these forms with the boss's abilities and stats.
TL's Weather System causes active changes to certain areas and environments, such as flooding overworld areas and sewers inside dungeons, creating new obstacles and opportunities during exploration.
Certain weapon skills also have different effects depending on the weather, and even wind conditions can affect ranged projectiles, so it's good to pay attention to the environmental conditions to determine any potential buffs or debuffs to your combat ability.
Throne and Liberty's Day-and-Night Cycle has several effects both on the world and your character. Some of the ways it affects the open world include spawning enemies or rendering enemies inert during specific times of the day, as well as turning Dungeons into Conflict Zones that allow for PvP.
Some weapon skills also have different effects depending on whether it's day or night, so take note of the alternate effects your skills may have depending on the time of day.
