New Weapon: Spear Guide

Throne and Liberty New Weapon Type Released Spear

Throne and Liberty (TL) announced a new weapon type, the Spear. Check out the details for the Spear, its role on the battlefield, and how it's related to Fortitude.

Spear Role in the Game

DPS and Tank

Spear Showcase
The Spear is a powerful DPS weapon, capable of bursting enemies down using either its Burst or Ignite mechanics. It is also a powerful Tank weapon, with abilities that allow you to steal HP from surrounding enemies and shake off Crowd Control (CC) effects.

This makes the Spear a very versatile weapon, capable of being comboed with weapons like the Longbow and Staff for DPS builds, or the Greatsword and Sword and Shield for Tank or Bruiser builds

PvE Capabilities

AoE Powerhouse

A majority of the Spear's skills, such as Cyclonic Fury and Vicious Fury and the Specialized Javelin Inferno, are capable of hitting multiple enemies at once. Thanks to that, it makes Spear a great weapon for mobbing, capable of bursting down multiple enemies at a time.

Still Strong Against Single Targets

This doesn't mean, of course, that the Spear deals subpar damage to single targets. When combined with weapons like the Crossbow or the Dagger, the Spear can still do massive amounts of damage to a single enemy like bosses.

PvP Capabilities

Bruiser and Hit-and-Run Attacks

The spear also does well in a PvP setting. Combining the Spear with weapons like the Dagger turns you into someone who can Fear enemies before performing a powerful combo.

Combining it with the Sword and Shield or Greatsword, on the other hand, turns you into a bruiser that can dish out as much punishment as they can take.

This makes the spear a very versatile weapon against other players.

PVP Guide

Spears and Fortitude

Survivability for Tanks

The arrival of Spears in the Call of the Spear brings with it the new stat: Fortitude. Fortitude increases your Endurances, Crowd Control Resistances, and Magic Defense. It also increases your Min and Max Damage, making up for some of the damage loss when picking this over Strength and Dexterity.

What is Fortitude?

Some Spears Have Fortitude as a Stat

Fortitude is a strong Stat for Tanks and Bruisers, especially in a PvP setting, as CC Resist is very strong against other players. As such, players who want to invest in Fortitude can equip some of the new Spears.

Queen Bellandir's Serrated Spike and the Skull Severing Spear, for example, both provide you with Fortitude. Equipping these weapons helps you increase your Fortitude without allocating a lot of Stat points to it.

The New Armor Set Also has Fortitude

Some of the new Armor sets in the game also contain Fortitude, specifically the Gilded Raven set that you can get from 2 Star Co-op Dungeons.

This armor, in combination with the spears mentioned above, can turn you into a powerful Bruiser or Tank that shrugs off CC.
