Traits are additional stats you must unlock in weapons and armor in Throne and Liberty (TL). See how to unlock traits and a list of traits that are compatible with each weapon type here.

The most straightforward way of unlocking traits is by acquiring an identical piece of equipment with a different trait, and using one to enhance the other, thus unlocking a secondary trait. You can unlock traits by accessing the Weapon Enchantment Menu.
Trait Conversion Stone, Trait Extraction Stone, Trait Resonance Stone, and Trait Unlockstone are consumables that allow you to change the traits of your equipment. This can be done through trait conversion, trait extraction, or by unlocking new traits.

You can also opt to buy Trait Extracts from the Auction House if there happens to be a trait you want for your build. This is more of a gamble because anyone else can buy it before you do, so be sure to check from time to time.
Each equipment type has one trait that is automatically unlocked as long as they are of at least Uncommon value. You can view a list of equipment that matches the desired trait, which you can then can use to enhance the desired trait.
