Wakestone Shards are given out as rewards for completing the quests of low-level Pawns. Simply hire 3 of them, allow time to pass by dozing off in a nearby chair, and you'll easily get Wakestones for free. You may repeatedly farm this as these pawns don't cost any Rift Crystals (RC). The Vernworth Riftstone is an ideal place to get plenty of Wakestones early on but beware of any timed quests you may be doing.
Dragon's Gaze |

Using a Dragon's Gaze will reveal nearby Wakestone shards on your map. Use this method if you want to avoid letting too much time pass or don't want to hire Pawns.
You can buy Wakestones with real money in your platform's store for $0.99. You'll not be given the option to purchase one when you die though, so this method isn't recommended.

The Wakestone is the revival item of Dragon's Dogma 2. You can choose to use a Wakestone when you die while it's in your inventory. It can also be used to revive any dead NPC.
