List of Contents
To understand the Elvish language in Dragon's Dogma 2, you will need a pawn with the Woodland Wordsmith specialization to accompany you. This pawn you bring can be your own pawn or someone else's!
Do keep in mind that if the pawn that has the Woodland Wordsmith specialization dies, you will lose the ability to understand Elvish!
After getting the Woodland Wordsmith's Tome, you can change your pawn's specialization to the Woodland Wordsmith if you use it! Doing so lets your main pawn understand the Elvish language to translate and convey to you.
1 | Give a Bunch of Flowers Press the Give Gift button and then choose the Bunch of Flowers. Make a Bunch of Flowers by combining Morning Tide with any flower! |

2 | Rest in the Inn After giving the flowers, rest in the inn until morning. Repeat steps 1 and 2 one more time. |
3 | Claim the Woodland Wordsmith Tome On the third day, talk to that elf and get the Woodland Wordsmith's Tome. |
To get the tome, you must increase your affinity with any elf you prefer in Sacred Arbor. It is recommended that you increase affinity with the innskeeper since she does not move from her spot.
To equip the Woodland Wordsmith specialization to your pawn, open the Implements tab in your inventory and use the Woodland Wordsmith's Tome to switch to that skill. Keep in mind that this overwrites your current pawn's specialization!
After learning Elvish, you can now properly label Sacred Arbor's offers. You can now properly see what the Smithy has to offer. The wares are particularly good for Archers, Sorcerers, and Magick Archers!
Knowing Elvish also reveals the Sacred Arbor exclusive enchanting style, Elven Smithing! This enhancing style significantly increases the magical attributes of your equipment, perfect for the aforementioned vocations!

Worked for me just fine. I gave three flowers over the course of three days to the equipment trader. I sat on the nearby bench and waited it out there for free.
