After finishing the Gift of the Bow Quest, a Chimera can spawn in the Sacred Ruins. As Glyndwr often stays here even after his questline, he can be involved in the battle and possibly die, so be cautious of that!

How to Beat the Chimera

How to Beat the Chimera

Cut Off the Snake Head First

Dragon

The Snake Head will pester you with quick swipes and pelt you with poisonous attacks that will inflict the Blight status on you. It is best to prioritize this before removing the Goat Head to avoid having to cure the Blight status and getting yanked off while mounting!

All Debilitations and Status Effect Symbols

Focus on the Goat Head Second

Dragon
Throughout the fight, the Goat Head and its spells pose the highest threat since it will consistently damage your pawns and yourself. To quickly get rid of the Goat Head, get the archer vocation's Lethality Augment to deal more damage since the Goat Head is a weak spot!

Lethality Augment Effect and How to Unlock

Light its Fur on Fire

Dragon

While they have no elemental weakness, the fur of the Chimera is vulnerable to being lit aflame. Increase the chances of lighting the Chimera on fire by dousing or tarring them with Oil or a Tarring Arrow from the Archer Vocation.

Tarring Shot Weapon Skill and How to Unlock

Silence the Goat Head

Dragon

If you are playing the Mage Vocation, look to bring the Solemnity Skill to prevent the Goat from casting its spells for a set amount of time. This spell will give you enough leeway to put the Goat Head out of commission and lock down the Chimera to only melee attacks.

Solemnity Weapon Skill and How to Unlock

Freeze the Lion Head

Dragon
All Magick attacks are effective against the Lion Head, but Ice attacks are the better option. Ice spells such as Hagol and Frigor can quickly freeze the Lion to stop it dead in its tracks for free damage!
