How to Start Every Rose Has Its Thorn

Visit the Bordelrie Days After An Unsettling Encounter

Every Rose Has Its Thorn only unlocks after completing the quests The Stolen Throne and An Unsettling Encounter, since both of these quests have cutscenes involving Wilhelmina. If you do An Unsettling Encounter first, it will progress your The Stolen Throne quest—to the point where you don't even need to do the masquerade sequence anymore—provided that you speak to Wilhelmina after.

Once you have done both quests, visit Wilhelmina in the Rose Chateau Bordelrie and speak with her a couple of times. After that, leave and head to the Stardrop Inn to sleep until morning.

Quest is Available When Rolf Prevents You From Seeing Wilhelmina

Visit the Bordelerie again the next day, and you should see Rolf guarding the room beside Wilhelmina's quarters. Enter Whilhelmina's quarters and proceed to the right side of the room to peek behind the same painting you used during The Stolen Throne quest. Spy on the guarded room and offer assistance to Wilhelmina's problem.

If sleeping in an inn once doesn't trigger the quest for you, try sleeping for another day or completing an unrelated quest.

Every Rose Has Its Thorn is located at the Rose Chateau Bordelrie in the Noble Quarters of Vernworth.

How to Complete Every Rose Has Its Thorn

  1. Speak to Sven in Vernworth Castle
  2. Head to Patrick's Estate
  3. Get the Evidence in Allard's Estate
  4. Give Wilhelmina the Murder Report
  5. Restrain Allard
  6. Escape the Guards
  7. Return to the Bolderie

Speak to Sven in Vernworth Castle

After receiving the deadline from Wilhelmina, make your way to Venworth Castle and speak with Sven in his chambers, located just past the Castle Offices.

He will mention that Patrick may have some information about Allard's misdeeds. He recommends you go to his manor at night. You'll need to tell the guards that you're under Sven's employ to grant you safe access to the manor.

Head to Patrick's Estate

Head to Patrick's Estate on the southwestern side of Vernworth at night and speak with Patrick, who will agree to lure out Allard for you.

Patrick will offer to summon Allard to his estate so you can sneak into Allard's manor to find evidence. Agree to his offer, and you'll have a window of opportunity to sneak into Allard's manor to look for evidence.

Get the Evidence in Allard's Estate

With Allard out of the way, make your way to his Manor. Since you accepted Patrick's offer, no guards will accost you, but stay hidden and don't draw attention just to be safe.

Head upstairs, and go inside the first door you see after ascending the stairs. There should be a painting hung on the wall to your left. Examine the painting to obtain the Murder Report.

Give Wilhelmina the Murder Report

Head back to the Rose Chateau Bordelrie and speak with Wilhelmina in her chambers, and then present the Murder Report you obtained from Allard's estate.

After exhausting her dialogue, choose the option Continue offering your aid to help Wilhelmina kill Allard and succeed in her romance.

Restrain Allard

As soon as you agree to help Wilhelmina, she'll get into a disguise and make her way to Allard, who is located in the next room. On Wilhelmina's cue, enter the room for a short cutscene, and then press R2 or RT to grab Allard and restrain him.

A cutscene will play where Wilhelmina reveals herself and kills Allard, but his death throes will alert the guards, and you'll need to follow Wilhelmina out of the window to escape.

Escape the Guards

After agreeing to escape separately, sprint towards the Merchant Square, and go inside the Inn. You have the option to fight the guards on your tail, but we recommend avoiding the fight as much as possible!

Return to the Bolderie

Stay in the Inn until the next morning, and go straight to the Rose Chateau Bordelrie again. This time the guards won't attack you on sight, so take your time heading over to the Propriotress' chamber.

Once inside, you'll automatically trigger the Romance scene with Wilhelmina, which also effectively ends the quest. You'll get the Ring of Benevolence, as well, as a bonus reward!

when i did it i went to the fortune teller and it told me to revive him but i didn't somebody try and then comment what happens.
