Can You Sneak?

Yes, But No Complex Stealth Mechanics

Sneaking and stealth are the lesser-focused game mechanics present in the game.

There are no specific stealth or sneaking mechanics, such as a “crouch” or “hide” button, making it harder for your character to be spotted by guards. However, some quests or locations require you not to be spotted by guards, or they'll attack and try to capture you.

Quests and Locations That Require Sneaking

Vernworth Castle

Vernworth Castle is a restricted area during the night, and guards may be hostile to you when caught on the castle grounds for too long.

Wearing the Marcher's set (Cuisses, armor, and helm) as a disguise will allow you to walk around Vernworth Castle without being caught.

Brant's Quests

Most of Brant's series of quests involves sneaking into and out of Vernworth Castle.

Vernworth Quests Recommended Order

Griffin Nest, Misty Marches

A sleeping Griffin can be encountered in its nest in the Misty Marches. You can sneak around this Griffin and pick up the items around the area without retaliation.

Note that a Portable Portcrystal is right under the Griffin, so it is heavily recommended to defeat this Griffin or at least wake it up to pick up the item and leave.

What Happens When You're Caught Sneaking?

Guards Will Attack and Capture You

In quests or locations where sneaking is required, such as Vernworth's castle grounds, guards who catch you sneaking will attack you and attempt to capture you.

Once captured, you'll be sent to jail with no other significant punishments.
