Recruit Mage or Archer Pawns

Dragon

Vocations specializing in melee such as Fighter, Warrior, or Thief will have a difficult time taking on aerial monsters as their melee weapons won't be able to reach them. As a solution to this, you can recruit Mage or Archer pawns to your party, so they can damage them with their ranged attacks.

These aerial enemies will sometimes get knocked out and fall to the ground after taking a few hits, allowing you to strike away with your melee weapon.

Use a Bow to Shoot Them Down

Dragon

Archers can use their bow to aim at flying enemies and shoot them down with arrows. They also have the option to use Steady Shot, which allows them to enter a free-look mode where they can manually aim and look around using the R Stick.

With this, they can precisely aim at aerial targets and fire at them. They can also opt to not use Steady Shot and attack normally, however they'll need to be a bit close to the aerial enemy for their arrows to land.

Autolock Cast Spells

Dragon

While playing as a Mage or Sorcerer, casting the basic attack spell (Magick Bolt) automatically locks onto aerial enemies. Simply get within range of the flying monster and spam the basic attack button away to damage and kill them.

Use Ensnare Ability as a Thief

Thieves have access to a unique ability that ensnares flying monsters using a long rope to pull them back to the ground. This is a long range ability that is perfect to use against Harpies and Griffons!
