How to Start In Dragon's Wake

Sleep at the Inn in Borderwatch Outpost

Dragon

Progress the Tale's Beginning main quest, as one of your objectives in that quest is to sleep at the lodgings in the Borderwatch Outpost. The In Dragon's Wake quest will automatically start as soon as you wake up.

How to Complete In Dragon's Wake

  1. Go to Melve and Explore the Town
  2. Attack the Dragon
  3. Speak with Lennart in Tristan's Inn
  4. Accompany Gregor to the Capital
  5. Kill the Cyclops
  6. Speak to Captain Grant

Go to Melve and Explore the Town

Dragon

Make for Melve located south of the Borderwatch Outpost. Upon arrival, enter the ruins of the stronghold and head left then north towards a well. Once there, turn right and head up the path on the hill to trigger a cutscene.

Attack the Dragon

Dragon

You'll take control of your character in this flashback, from you were the Arisen. Attack the invading dragon with your sword in hand. Dealing enough damage will trigger a cutscene where the dragon takes your heart, beginning your tale as the Arisen.

Speak with Lennart in Tristan's Inn

Dragon

Speak to Lennart inside Tristan's Inn, and he'll talk to you about the different vocations. Afterwards, head outside and an NPC named Dahlia will tell you to speak with the watchead, Gregor, near Melve's entrance.

Accompany Gregor to the Capital

Dragon

Upon speaking with Gregor, he'll accompany you towards the capital. Follow him on foot and deal with monsters such as goblins and harpies along the way.

Kill the Cyclops

Dragon

You'll eventually reach a blocked path, from which a Cyclops emerges! This encounter also starts the One-Eyed Interloper quest. Although the Cyclops is down to half its health, it's still a formidable enemy. Forunately, you have the support of your Pawns and Gregor's party to help you out in this fight!

You can destroy the dam blocking the water on the other side of the blocked path to create a flash flood, dealing a good amount of damage to the Cyclops.

Return to Gregor, and he'll ask you if you want to continue traveling with them to the capital or make your way there on your own. Choosing to go with them allows you to travel by oxcart, speeding up your journey to Vernworth.

Speak to Captain Grant

Dragon

Upon your arrival at the capital, Brant will take you in for questioning. Continue through all the dialogue options until the conversation ends. This will complete the quest and will allow you to walk freely in Vernworth.
